Of- ficials called back several times, but were unable to make contact with the caller. • A caller reported that someone had struck the front of Chana's Corner with their vehicle. • A caller on Madison 6351 reported that someone kicked in his door and stole his medication. • A caller on Union Drive reported that her son possi- bly had witnessed two adults "passing around a cigarette with tweezers." e juvenile also asked his mother "what is smoked in a pipe." In total, Coffman said he has worked "off and on" with the county for six years as a paramedic and instructor. His overall 16-year career began in Harrison, he said. Coffman said his nickname Boudreaux came about early in his career because there were numerous emergen- cy responders in Harrison named Brian. He earned his associ- ates and teaching degrees at North Arkansas College in Harrison. Doctors at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis are try- ing to find a match for a bone marrow transplant. Coffman said his insurance doesn't cover the cost of the actual search. Hill said proceeds from the supper and auction will go directly to Coffman and his family to be used how they choose, including the cost of travel to and from St. Louis. Coffman and his wife, Tracy, have a 19-year-old daughter and an 18-year-old son. An account in his name for donations also has been established at Anstaff Bank in Huntsville. e search for a bone mar- row match will begin with Coffman's older brother and sister. He also will be on the national donor registry. If a match still hasn't been found, he said, doctors will test the Coffman children. Coffman said doctors are hoping for a transplant in January or February. According to the website of Cancer Treatment Centers of America, acute myeloid leukemia ... "is a fast-growing form of cancer of the blood and bone marrow." "AML is the most com- mon type of acute leukemia," the site states. "It occurs when the bone marrow begins to make blasts, cells that have not yet completely matured. ese blasts normally de- velop into white blood cells. However, in AML, these cells do not develop and are un- able to ward off infections." Coffman said that in Oc- tober he began to feel weak and looked pale. He visited with his family doctor, then the leukemia was discov- ered at Highlands Oncology Group in Fayetteville. Before treatment, doctors had to narrow down which kind of leukemia Coffman had. His first round of chemo began in less than a week, he said. e event will be from 2-6 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Huntsville Fire Station 1, located at 417 Church Ave. e auction will begin at 4:30 p.m. Courtesy photo A chicken house near Highway 74 was destroyed by a fire Sunday. According to people close to the situation, no chickens were being stored in the chicken house, but a large amount of hay was lost.
