10.75" 3 KAPPA ALPHA THETA H T he fall semester has been one of excitement and celebration at 603 Kentucky Boulevard. With several changes being made on campus over the last months, Thetas have proven to be Leading Women in times of adversity. Each of our events has had a common aim of inclusivity and sisterhood, the first being recruitment in August. Members had a blast during Spirit Week, preparing for the potential new members (PNMs). On Philanthropy Day, we loved teaching PNMs about how Theta helps CASA kids grow and made CASA Kits to provide children with school supplies. During Sisterhood Round, we welcomed PNMs to Theta Sleepover and participated in a scavenger hunt around Theta. "We loved showing PNMs that Theta truly is a dream," said Chief Recruiting Officer Kristen Netznik '14. Theta received wide praise for this year's recruitment. Despite an overall decline in University enrollment, we were excited to exceed Panhellenic quota and welcome home 65 wonderful new members! To raise funds and awareness for CASA and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, we held our annual Flapjacks and Quarterbacks pancake dinner and flag football tournament. We also hosted our second annual Glow Run 5K. These events helped us raise $7,773.74. "Supporting CASA and the Foundation brings joy to my heart. I am so honored that we as Thetas are able to support such an important and worthy cause. I love being able to hold events that CASA kids are able to participate in," said Philanthropy Director Channing Phillips '15. This fall, the women of Kappa Alpha Theta were paired with the men of Kappa Sigma and Phi Delta Theta. Mizzou Homecoming's theme was Rhythm of the Roar. Our pairing's sub- theme, Beetle Bailey, was near and dear to our pairing's heart, as Mort Walker, the writer of Beetle Bailey comic strips, was a Kappa Sigma at Mizzou. Our pairing placed first in Banner, second in Decorate the District, fourth in Service, and fifth overall. One of our very own, Lillie Heigl '14, was honored at the Homecoming football game's halftime coronation as a Top Ten Royalty candidate representing Mizzou Alternative Breaks. "Homecoming this year was an incredible opportunity for me to give back to Mizzou, because I got to work the blood drive, help with service, and more. I'm so thankful for the mentorship and support I've gotten both inside and outside of Theta that brought me to being a Top 10 candidate," said Lillie.
