appa Alpha Theta would not be as strong
of an organization without the support
of alumnae like Jennifer Pendleton Hulett
'92. While Jennifer has expressed her
appreciation for the work sisters before her
put into Alpha Mu and the house, Theta is
grateful to Jennifer and her husband, Brian,
for their leadership in volunteering and
financially supporting the chapter.
Joining Alpha Mu Chapter, Jennifer says,
"exposed me to diverse cultural experiences
I had not previously had living in a small
town." Making new friends and being
immersed in an "intensive peer-mentoring
experience" improved her social skills
and increased her self-confidence and
assertiveness. Her favorite memories include
Bid Day and late-night talks with pledge
sisters and her pledge mom, "although we
never quite managed to solve all the world's
problems."
Alpha Mu also provided many connections in
Jennifer's life. Her second-grade teacher was
Nancy Cassity Tate '66, who has mentored
and encouraged Jennifer over the years,
and also wrote her Theta recommendation
letter, "for which I am extremely thankful."
Jennifer is still in touch with her former
roommates, Laura Weber Fahnestock '92,
Kristen Defenbaugh Ward '92, and Kristy
Kelly Neff '92. Among the most important
connections is Neysa Ricketts Kleinman
'92, who introduced Jennifer to Brian
