VALUING THE DELTA TAU DELTA MOTTO Brothers Continue Academic, Recruitment, and Philanthropic Success B eta Zeta has worked tirelessly to maintain our leadership, service, and academic standards in the Butler community. I am proud to report that we have exceeded expectations in every category and are excited to see what next semester brings. CHAPTER WELCOMES 42 NEW MEMBERS We recruited 42 new members during Butler's recruitment in the spring. We are actively recruiting the upcoming pledge class this semester, and are enjoying building relationships with the potential new members. BETA ZETA RECEIVES TOP MARKS Spring semester, the chapter achieved a 3.483 GPA and our new members achieved a 3.569 GPA. The former is higher than the all- fraternity, all-undergraduate men's, and all- unaffiliated men's averages. As a way to keep up the momentum, we are offering gift cards to anyone with a 4.0 semester GPA. So far, this new initiative has recognized 14 members! Academic Chairman Chaz Gabriel '18 said, "Seeing the academic drive in our members is so encouraging. I tell them all the time they make my position easy! There are many locks in life, but education is the master key." BROTHERS RAISE MORE THAN $13,434 AT DELT DUNK Jake Rocks '19 and Clay Hypes '19 led Beta Zeta's fall philanthropy initiative, Delt Dunk, which is a three-on-three basketball tournament that raises money for the Matt White Cure ALS Foundation. These two worked tirelessly to promote the event and gather as many alumni and current students to attend as possible. Originally, the goal was $10,000, but through our hard work, we raised more than $13,434! Jake and Clay said, "It was such an amazing opportunity and incredibly rewarding to organize Delt Dunk this year. We love supporting Matt White '89 and his foundation. Seeing the whole house come together for a common goal was truly inspiring." We have also increased our service initiatives by assisting with the set up and tear down for OneWalk in Indianpolis, while 34 brothers attended Bulldogs into the Streets, which sends students to more than 30 sites in the community. Members also devoted their time as student orientation guides for Butler's Welcome Week, attended the fall alternative break in Harlan, Ky., and the Dress for Success Gala at the J.W. Marriott on September 8. CHAPTER WINS FIRST PLACE AT HOMECOMING WEEK Beta Zeta was paired with Delta Gamma for Homecoming week. For the first time in many years, we brought home first place in Homecoming week competitions! Zach Eaton '20 was our Homecoming chairman and led the chapter well during the week with a tireless attitude and constant support. WELCOMING ALUMNI AND PARENTS On October 20, the chapter hosted a Homecoming alumni night at the Shelter. Brothers from all generations came back for a night of awards and recognition presented by active members and the Beta Zeta House Corporation Board. On October 28, we hosted Mom's Day events, including a luncheon, games, and socializing. Without the constant support of our strong alumni base and parents, events such as these would not be possible. We are building upon the foundation set by our predecessors and with your help, we will continue to be a top fraternity in the Greek community.
