The house fared well during the storm. Our house director, Carolyn Ashby, Washington State University, has done a wonderful job keeping up with the outside maintenance. We cut back trees and cleaned out gutters to be prepared for storms like Irma. We had some recurring roof leaks and some power outage, but overall came away unscathed. The fire alarm did go off around 3 a.m. in the heart of the storm, and the girls that were there had to go outside! Luckily, it was just due to a roof leak that affected a fire detector. After the storm, the sisters hosted the Alumnae Tailgate before the September 16 win over Tennessee. For those of us that were at that game, wow! That last catch was amazing. We were all so proud of those coaches and athletes for coming away with a win without having to go into stressful overtime. Go Gators! If you didn't get an opportunity to come by the house during the tailgate, please feel free to come by next time you're in Gainesville. The girls are so proud of the house and would love to show you around. The renovations that happened this summer were concentrated in the TV room (aka the green room). Our decorator, Debbie Fisk, had a partition wall put up, the trophy cases repurposed into shelves, and a bench installed, creating a fun and beautiful work/dining area. We also put down laminate wood flooring in the upstairs bedrooms and hall (the back hall suites got this upgrade last summer). The mail and new member closets also got a new look with new laminate flooring and shelving work. Thank you to everyone that took the time to come to the house and say hello to the sisters. They appreciate your support.
