PAGE 3 Delta Delta Delta Alumnae Update W hen summer came to an end, Alpha Betas everywhere felt bittersweet knowing that it was time to resume the classes and stresses that come with a new academic year, while building up excitement to return to campus to see our sisters once again. The summer brought lots of amazing internships, fabulous foreign travels, and plenty of Delta love as sisters excelled all over the world. Alpha Betas met up while studying abroad in Italy, lived and worked in New York City together, and traveled to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to camp and hike. These are just a few examples of how Tri Delta provides a continuous bond of friendship for sisters. FIRST ANNUAL ST. JUDE TRI DELTA CELEBRATION Philanthropy Chairman Anna Brzozowski '19 and I had the opportunity to attend the first annual St. Jude Tri Delta Celebration. We spent an emotional, enriching, three days in Memphis, Tennessee, hearing from patients, touring St. Jude's campus, and learning more about the historic partnership between Tri Delta and St. Jude. Our incredible sorority is the single largest contributing partner to St. Jude! Anna and I felt immense pride that Tri Delta has already raised $27 million in three years toward our 10-year $60 million pledge. Anna, along with Assistant Philanthropy Chairman Emma Ungar '17, are gearing up for an exciting year filled with innovative philanthropic endeavors and a renewed sense of passion for giving back to our local Ithaca community and St. Jude. BODY IMAGE 3D AND FAT TALK FREE WEEK Body Image Coordinator Majelia Ampadu '19 planned our annual Body Image 3D and Fat Talk Free Week campaigns for the week of October 16. Our sisters pride themselves on promoting healthy living and body positivity at Cornell, and we love covering campus with post-its of affirmations that everyone is beautiful. Member Development Chairman Madeleine Tom '19 has coordinated a variety of fun happenings throughout the semester. Our sisters will enjoy flower picking, hiking, and a backyard tea party. We have had an enriching and exciting semester so far and we are glad to be back on campus with our sisters! Thank you to all of the alumnae who continue to support us. We look forward to seeing you at 118 Triphammer Road anytime you're in Ithaca. Alpha Beta's doors are always open! Delta Love and Mine, Lauren Goldman '19 Chapter President lig34@cornell.edu AN ENRICHING FALL FOR ALPHA BETA Body Image 3D and Fat Talk Free Week Planned ALUMNAE NEWS Betty Oakes Muka '48 shares, "Although I pledged Tri Delta at Oklahoma University's Theta Gamma Chapter in 1947, I came to Ithaca, N.Y., in 1951, and met Arthur Muka, who I married on September 6, 1952. Having given birth to five children by 1962, I visited the Alpha Beta Chapter at Cornell in its rented house adjacent to the campus, and found that they wanted a Chapter House of their own. I became active in the local Alpha Beta alumnae chapter, which had saved dues moneys for many years. I persuaded them to buy a house on a lot near Cornell—in my name. A few months later, Kappa Alpha Theta closed its active chapter and put its chapter house on the market. I told the alumnae chapter and they bought it at 118 Triphammer Road in 1965. I am responsible!" Betty and Arthur have five children and live happily in Ithaca. Jane Wilson '51 was delighted to take a 56-day cruise this year, which took her from Florida to the Mediterranean. She's proud to share that she has crossed Croatia and Venice off of her bucket list! Jane enjoyed a luncheon in June with her DDD roommate, Jean Lanigan Lenehan '54. Jane Moore '65 is enjoying retirement, family, and a great deal of travel. She's looking forward to the DDD reunion in 2018! Nayla Rizk '80 retired as a partner at executive search firm Spencer Stout almost five years ago. She has traveled extensively, renovated her home, and now advises startups in Silicon Valley, where she lives. She enjoyed attending her son Peter's wedding in June. Nayla keeps in touch with Laura Hitt-McCann '79 and Nina Kondo O'Connor '82. Michele Mayer Ladner '91 remarried five years ago and has three beautiful daughters, ages 17, 15, and 13. She works in Manhattan and enjoys living in Long Island near the beaches. Two years ago, she started playing soccer for a ladies league—her first time ever playing soccer! "It's competitive but fun," she shares. E-mail: mmariemayer@optonline.net Rosalie Cincotta Boothe '05 says, "After a few years in the hotel industry, my husband, Kevin, ended a nine-year NFL career with the New York Giants and Oakland Raiders. Our family has called northern New Jersey home ever since. I'm raising our three children and dealing with our life after the NFL transition." Rosalie volunteers for Cornell as a 2005 class officer and vice president of the annual fund. She was Alpha Beta's 100th reunion campaign chairman in 2015. Rosalie continues to volunteer her time and resources to many charities in New York City and New Jersey, and loves baking, visiting family in Boston and Florida, and reconnecting with her Cornell classmates.
