T he Beta Tau house corporation board would like to thank everyone who came out to the alumnae sleepover in July! Sisters from all generations attended and had a great time catching up with old friends, meeting other alumnae and exploring the new house. Everyone enjoyed an outing to The Social, where we were able to mingle and relax while overlooking a scenic view of the University of Florida campus on the restaurant's rooftop lounge. When we arrived back at the house, the group made ice cream sundaes while painting wine glasses and watching Beauty and the Beast. To wrap things up in the morning, the group enjoyed yoga on the house's new back patio headed by a wonderful local instructor. The board would like to give a special shout-out to Beta Tau's own Chef Mike for cooking us all a delicious dinner and breakfast! For those of you who couldn't make it, don't worry! We are hoping to make the sleepover an annual event. The board would also like to welcome and encourage our alumnae to get more involved with Beta Tau in any of the many opportunities available throughout the year—whether it be attending alumnae events such as the sleepover, volunteering with chapter activities such as initiation, or even just stopping by the house for dinner. If you are interested in in becoming more involved with the chapter, feel free to contact us on the Beta Tau corporation board Facebook page or e-mail BetaTauReunion@gmail.com. We can't wait to see our alumnae in the near future at more Beta Tau events. Alumnae Sleepover a Success Alumnae reunited at the new Sigma Kappa chapter house to relive memories and reconnect with their Beta Tau sisters. E rinn Berkelhammer '08, originally a student at Stetson University, transferred to the University of Florida in search of a different kind of college experience. At first, Erinn didn't consider being in a sorority because she never considered herself a "typical" sorority woman. However, as she began to make more friends who were a part of Greek life, she learned that a "typical" stereotype didn't exist. "I have made so many different types of friends and connections through Sigma Kappa, including two of my bridesmaids for my upcoming wedding," Erinn says. Her membership in Sigma Kappa is a big reason for the growth of her own business, Dixieland Monogram. After graduation at UF, she attended graduate school at Florida State University where she discovered a few stores in Tallahassee that influenced her to open her own monogramming boutique. "Sigma Kappa is one of the main reasons I was able to grow my business. Sisters never hesitated to share my store with their friends and this word of mouth marketing strategy allowed me to grow my store to the level it is at today," Erinn says. Even beyond undergraduate years, the bonds of Sigma Kappa have stayed with Erinn. She is an officer for the Tampa Bay alumnae chapter, in which she occasionally gets to work with the Beta Tau Chapter on certain projects. She encourages sisters who may have lost touch to reconnect by joining the Facebook group or by coming out to a game day. "Sigma Kappa gave me the confidence to speak to anyone. I feel confident in new situations where many people may be hesitant to put themselves out there. I thank Sigma Kappa for this as it has helped me back connections with influential people in my area," Erinn says. Erinn lives in Tampa, Fla., and will be getting married next year. You can contact her at dixielandmonogram@gmail.com or visit her website at www.dixelandmongram.com.
