24 SEPTEMBER 20 - 26, 2017 Best of Fayetteville Best Downtown Restaurant Pierro's Italian Bistro 217 Hay St./3010 Traemoor Village Dr. (910) 678-8885/(910)491-4667 or www.pierrositalianbistro.com Pierro's Italian Bistro is owned and operated by Executive Chef Daniel Fair and Michael Laurenceau and is located right in the heart of Downtown Fayetteville. Neither Fair nor Laurenceau thought they'd end up as restaurant entrepreneurs. But they both had the entrepreneur's spirit and a passion for fine dining, and they've been at it for 15 years now. Today, Fair is an Iron Chef, one of the highest honors in the culinary world. The restaurant's name honors his grandfather Leo Pierro, who emigrated from Italy to America in 1917. "We strive to constantly exceed customer expectations with food, customer service and atmosphere," Laurenceau said. Patrons enjoy the inviting indoor or outdoor atmospheres. Indoor diners love the exposed brick walls and vintage hardwood floors, while outdoor diners take in a beautiful view of historic Hay Street. The Pierro's menu features classic Italian fare, hand-cut steaks and seafood dishes as well as one of the most diverse wine selections in the area. Its crab cakes and shrimp scampi sicilia are both award-winning, as is its pesto lasagna. Fair credits the success of Pierro's Italian Bistro to "learning from others, creating a signature taste and adapting to the ever-changing palates of the patrons." Best Dining with Kids Red Robin 502 Cross Creek Mall (910) 864-4550 or www.redrobin.com Dining with kids … parents, don't you get excited just reading that? Well, at Red Robin, right by the Cross Creek Mall, management understands what it takes to create a family-friendly environment where kids AND their parents can have fun. Yummy food is perhaps the most potent of all cures in healing a crying, grumpy or tired kid's ailments. Red Robin's got that covered with perennial kids' favorites dubbed with fun names sure to cause giggles: corn doggies, swirly twirly pasta, grilled chicken stickens and cluck-a-doodles (chicken strips) are a few. Until the food arrives, strategically placed TVs that feature both children's shows and sports events keep young and old guests entertained. For older guests, Red Robin's claim to fame is undoubtedly its gourmet burgers, which first debuted on the menu in 1973. It's fittingly fun-spirited that Red Robin, originally Sam's Tavern in the 1940s, earned its moniker because Sam couldn't stop singing and whistling the song "When the Red, Red Robin (Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin' Along)." Fayetteville's been comin' along to Red Robin all year for family outings, and we agree it's the best spot to be! WINE & DINE WINE & DINE
