The Chapter has 123 members on campus, in- cluding the 23 summer pledges we secured from across Iowa and eight other states. Last semester, our Fraters rang the academic bell with a Chap- ter GPA at 3.1, ranking above the all-Interfrater- nity Council active average. Individually, we had 12 members earning perfect 4.0s and three mem- bers inducted into Cardinal Key, the Universi- ty's highest academic honorary. The Kratochvil Scholarship program awarded a record 56 schol- arships to members totaling $53,600—the most of any TKE chapter or fraternity on campus. Twenty-four and Counting One hundred and two years following our Chap- ter founding, Epsilon Chapter remains firmly en- trenched as one of the top fraternities on campus and in the nation. In August at TKE conclave in New Orleans, Epsilon Chapter was selected as the Top TKE Chapter in the nation, its 24th Top TKE award and its sixth Top TKE in a row. The men of Epsilon Chapter realize that success can be fleeting so they press ahead with a continual assessment of improvement areas and imple- mentation of new ideas to take us to new heights. Epsilon refuses to rest on their laurels. Epsilon's alumni board continually reminds the men that their success today is due in part to their hard work and dedication, combined with the past successes of Fraters who walked the halls of 224 Ash last year or decades ago. Then and Now The undergraduate Chapter remains committed to building leaders both on and off of campus, which is evident through our members serving key leadership positions in a wide variety of Greek and other student organizations. They strive to build on Epsilon's rich tradition of ex- cellence in activities they enter, including Home- coming, intramurals, philanthropy, and singing competitions. When we look at our Chapter members today we see uncountable similarities to Tekes we know from days gone by. Our home at 224 Ash is a dry chapter, meaning no alcohol is allowed on the property at any time. We also maintain a zero tolerance policy on tobacco use and recreational drugs, which we believe has contributed to our successes in re- cruitment, academics, and leadership. TKE International Visits for Retreat Prytanis Tom Scallon E-2220 '14 (Norwalk, Iowa) led our jeweled officers in a very success- ful officer retreat on August 20. At this retreat the Chapter officers set academic and leadership goals for the coming year. TKE International sent a representative to the retreat, which proved to be extremely valuable in challenging our men to "Raise the Standard." Housemother Entering 27th Year with Chapter Mom Sandy Clem is celebrating her 26th year as housemother at Epsilon Chapter. She now greets a new member or two each year who are the sons of Fraters she knew as members earlier in her career. She provides a steady and guiding hand to the men as have other housemothers before her, such as Lucy Grimm, Blanche King, and Ev- elyn Goering, to name a few. Mom Sandy enjoys hearing from Fraters so never hesitate to drop her a postcard or letter. Stop by and visit your fraternity anytime. We would love to show you around the fraternity that YOU helped build. Things are well at Ep- silon Chapter!
