A big feature at Tehama District Fair for the young children is the PeeWee Show- manship Contest. Judges were Sr. Showmanship Winners from FFA and 4-H, Bailey Brownfield, Kamish Wagner winner, and Masie Skelton, Clayton Cox. Swine Will Macdonald, Sutter Long, Savannah Miller, Candace Bonham and Shanell Deloza. Ringmen were Red Bluff FFA Members, Wyatt Welch, Zach Taylor and Dillon Holbrook. The 92nd Tehama District Fair, a four- day affair, has come and gone but not with- out wowing and excit- ing the thousands that walked about the Tehama District Fair- ground for a slice of Red Bluff tradition. The scene was lively Saturday evening as fairgoers trying their hand at winning a stuffed prize often looked for an aim that was true — whether it was throwing darts or shooting a basketball. Periodically, a thun- derous roar could be heard near the games and rides. It was the tractor- pull event, where supped-up trucks took turns pulling "The Ter- minator," a 72,000- pound tractor. The stands were filled. Hoots and "Super Shot," which lifted fairgoers up and then released them for a super drop. Dave Stacy, a fairgo- er of Red Bluff who paused to watch a drop, said he has been attending the fair since 1977. Stacy, 44, attended with his son and baby, and said the fair pro- vides something to do for the kids. "It's not Disney- land," he said, "but it's still cool." Stacy said he noticed the fair has become smaller, and added, with a laugh, "more expensive, of course." And when Kevin Massetti, who drove a vehicle named "The Whip," pulled the massive tractor past all the placed markers that indicate how many feet a contestant has gone, the packed bleacher seats exploded. Massetti's vehicle attraction, a lioness named Taureg was led into a cage surrounded by fairgoers waiting for a look at the 11- year-old Hollywood star. Taureg starred in the exhibited a power that drove the crowd to its feet, and filled the fair with the booming sound of a jet-engine. In all, he pulled Taureg is tamed at the "Lion Safari" attraction at the 92nd Tehama District Fair at the fairgrounds in Red Bluff on Saturday. Taureg, an 11-year-old lioness, has starred in the films "Secondhand Lions" and "Water for Elephants." "The Terminator" an impressive 360.2 feet, which led one fairgoer to quip that Massetti had the momentum to pull the 72,000 pound machine to Redding.
