The responsibility for providing and managing this unique experience rests with the House Association. Those who volunteer as House Association board members have an opportunity to influence the success and growth of the collegiate members and our chapter. The House Association is organized by alumnae who provide experience and continuity to the ever-changing membership of our collegiate chapter. The House Association has grown from supporting pledge classes of 15 to classes of 150. The growth has come along with that of the university. While many women have fond memories of the "old" chapter house, design features of that home are built in to the "new" chapter house—one of which everyone will remember are the keys that are cemented into the steps and the Psi walkway. With the number of women that utilize the chapter house, it is run as a business. While there are no current plans to expand, the House Association is responsible for planning, approving, and overseeing any major expansions and renovations. Most major work done to the chapter house is completed over the summer to minimize the disruptions for women living in the house. Our goal is to provide a sound, clean, safe, and comfortable home for our collegiate members to grow and develop. To protect the assets of the chapter and to fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities, the House Association owns the real property for the collegiate chapter and leases the chapter house to the collegiate chapter. Other House Association duties include: maintaining equipment and furnishings, analyzing long-term facility and financial needs, and maintaining accurate financial records. Rent is collected from the chapter to finance the House Association and to repay loans that were incurred in the building process. Our biggest goal is to maintain housing that is safe, comfortable, and affordable for our outstanding young women for decades to come.
