SF looks to contain Johnson SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The overwhelming consensus on San Francis- co's elite defense is that Calvin Johnson is the best wide receiver the 49ers will face. And perhaps the best there is, period. They kept the man known as Megatron out of the end zone last season, and that will be the No. 1 priority again Sunday night in a Week 2 conference showdown at Candlestick Park in the defending NFC West champion Niners' home opener. And the coaches plan to play nice this time, too. When the 49ers rallied for a 25-19 win at Ford Field last October to hand the Lions their first loss following a 5-0 start, Jim Harbaugh enraged Detroit coach Jim Schwartz with a firm back- slap and handshake — and the two even had to be sep- arated coming off the field. "We're both NFC teams. We're both 1-0. We were both playoff teams last year," Schwartz said. "Last year doesn't matter." While everyone has long since moved on, or so they say, San Francisco tight end Vernon Davis acknowledges that moment did plenty to fire up the 49ers going forward. "I'm sure Coach Har- baugh's not worried about that. It's in the back of his mind," Davis said. "We don't need any distractions. ... Coaches get upset just like the players. I don't think it's a big deal. It just makes the game that much more interesting and that much more exciting when you see coaches getting fired up like that. It defi- nitely made me fired up for the next game. It was like, 'We got Harbaugh going crazy like this? Oh, yeah, I'm all for him.' " Schwartz and Harbaugh have seen each other since and were civil. Both will have plenty of other issues come Sunday than to stew about "mini- controversies," as Har- baugh put it this week, from 11 months ago. "I do believe that's a thing of the past," 49ers safety Donte Whitner said. "Tempers were flaring. Coach was happy that we won. They were probably upset that they lost in their home. Each year's a new year. But we do expect a physical team, and we do expect a physical game on Sunday. We understand that they are upset coming up there last year and beat- ing them." San Francisco's stingy defense already shut down 2011 MVP Aaron Rodgers and the Packers last week at Lambeau Field, where the 49ers snapped an eight- game losing streak with their first victory in Green Bay since 1990. Next chal- lenge: Matthew Stafford, another prolific passer with big-play potential, and Johnson. 1 49ERS Sports Raiders Oakland Miami Dolphins (26T), PASS (12) (3T), PASS (12) (22), PASS (24) 1B Weekend Sept 15-16, 2012 Sunday 10 a.m. CBS OAKLAND (0-1) At MIAMI (0-1) OPENING LINE — Raiders by 1 RECORD VS. That after he became the NFL's first player with nine TD receptions in the initial five games of a sea- son. Wisniewski set to play Miami RAIDERS Stefen Wisniewski has no doubt that run- ning the ball early and effectively is crit- ical if the Raiders are to avoid going 0-2 for the first time since 2007. Getting the second-year offensive lineman back on the field should help. Coach Dennis Allen announced Fri- day that Wisniewski — who suited up but did not play in the team's season-opening loss to San Diego — will be in the lineup for Sunday's game in Miami. That's good news for an Oakland ALAMEDA (AP) — Oakland center split reps in practice with Alex Parsons this week before being cleared to start. ''Part of it is just mentally being able offense that was held to 45 yards rushing in its Week 1 defeat, including just 32 from running back Darren McFadden. ''We really kind of build our offense around being able to run the ball, then come play-action and pass off of that,'' Wisniewski said. ''If you get rid of the run you become one-dimensional and that's what kind of happened in the sec- ond half last game. We were just throw- ing the ball all the time and that's not what we want to do.'' Wisniewski hasn't played in a game of any sort since injuring his calf on the first drive of the Raiders' first preseason game, though no one can accuse him of taking it easy. After all, the former Penn State stand- out who emerged as one of Oakland's best linemen played most of his rookie season in 2011 with a torn labrum. A second-round pick a year ago, Wis- to make calls real fast with defenses moving around,'' Wisniewski said. ''Part of it is getting your fits, working with your guards. When you miss reps work- ing with people next to you it takes a lit- tle while to get those fits quite right again.'' Wisniewski will be making his second career start at center after spending almost all of his rookie season at left guard. Allen said he delayed in naming a starter because he wanted to see how Wisniewski held up with the increased work in practice with the starting offense. Parsons is also nursing a sore shoulder. ''I just wanted to see how the week played out, how Alex responded with his shoulder, how Wiz responded to being in there and getting the practice reps with the first group,'' Allen said. ''I was pleased with what I saw. I think (Wis- niewski) is prepared and ready to go.'' The Raiders are also holding out hope that Jon Condo will be cleared to play after the Pro Bowl long-snapper suffered a concussion against San Diego. Condo has spent the week going through a battery of tests and joined the team on its flight to Miami. ''All the tests that he's done so far he's niewski doesn't think he'll have any problems picking up where he left off.
