3 California Gamma Looks Toward Next 100 Years T his has been an exciting and successful semester here at California Gamma! In February, we introduced 10 amazing Angels into our chapter through the Continuous Open Bidding process. Their enthusiasm and commitment brings a new energy to our house, and we are so blessed to have them. On March 30, we had our big/little sis reveal at Bowlmor in Santa Monica. Our members had so much fun bowling in our matching big/little outfits! With the success of this new member class, our chapter anticipates an equally successful fall recruitment, especially with the astounding leadership of Gaby Glover '15, our Vice President of Membership. Another memorable event from this semester was our annual fundraiser, Pi Social. On March 22, we opened our house to the community for a night of country line dancing, a pie eating contest, and, of course, Pie a Pi Phi! Riley Ransom '15, our Vice President of Philanthropy, has done an outstanding job fundraising for our event by including our entire chapter in the process. Under her leadership, each of our members sent out three personal donation letters to family and friends, informing them of Pi Beta Phi's Literacy Fund and our chapter's role in supporting children's literacy. In the past month, our chapter has raised over $12,000, and we are hoping to reach $15,000 by the end of the month! Our latest event was the annual Founders' Day and a celebration for the 150th anniversary of Pi Beta Phi on April 2. Alumnae from all around Los Angeles attended, including four California Gamma alumnae. During a cookie shine, they shared stories about living in the house and their examples of lifelong commitment and friendships. Several women from the California Mu Chapter at Loyola Marymount University were also guests, and connected with members from our chapter whom they had known before, or had just met. The sunny afternoon brought Pi Phis from many states and generations together to honor our founders and ring in 150 years of Pi Beta Phi. Caroline Haskins '15, our Vice President of Fraternity Development, truly planned a wonderful event. We look forward to celebrating California Gamma's 100th anniversary later this year.
