Box 12465 Newport Beach, CA 92658 Address Service Requested Pi Beta Phi ENTRE NOUS "I never got a Pi Phi daughter, but I enjoyed see- ing fellow California Gammas when I attended Caroline's Mothers' Club meetings at UCLA," Terry says, noting that Lori Keefe Petry '70 and Kathy Monroe Brittingham '70 were among the Pi Phis with UCLA Theta daughters. Terry pledged Pi Phi when the chapter house was two doors down from its current location, on the site of the current Theta parking lot. "It was fun to stay there during our Inspiration Week prior to initiation," Terry says. "Being in the little chapter room is a special memory. The dining room had dark wood paneling and I recall the scent of gar- denias during a special dinner that was held after our initiation." Terry was among the first occupants of the cur- rent Pi Phi house, and lived there her sophomore, junior, and senior years. "The brick patio in the current house is similar to the one at the old house," she says. "We helped lay the bricks in the summer so it would be finished by recruitment. We really wanted the new house to have that charm on the patio and said we needed the bricks!" Terry, who donates regularly to the House Fund Association of California Gamma, says she does so because, "Pi Phi changed the direction of my life in so many ways. It's why I encouraged my daughters to join sororities. Not only do you make friendships right away, which connect you initially to the sorority, but you also make life- long friendships. "If you can help today's Pi Phi by contributing to construction, repair, and replacement projects at the house, it's important to make that investment," Terry says. We have such a beautiful house and I want to help the chapter continue to attract great people and help the sorority to flourish." Connect with Terry at tjmccarthy@cox.net.
