KanSaS BEta PAGE 3 Homecoming week kicked off with a 5K that benefitted the Fort Riley USO. Carson Lilley '18 and Luke Henes '18 are all smiles after the annual holiday dinner. The fall 2016 semester saw nine brothers graduate (not all pictured). Their commitment to excellence and passionate attitudes will not be forgotten, nor will their legacy they left at the Chapter. With both the struggles and excitement that last semester brought, we are looking forward to learning and building off the experiences of last semester to continue the strong presence of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Kansas State University. Vice President of Recruitment Max Kuhn '18 has had another outstanding year of recruiting. Max recruited a class of 10 excellent men from all over Kansas and the St. Louis area. He is also working with Kansas Beta alumnus Richard Payne '59 to recruit a large fall class from all over the state. Last semester, we saw our grades slip but we still held a GPA of a 3.1, which puts us well over the all-campus average. We look to reclaim our spot as one of the top chapters in grades by semester's end. This spring, the men of SigEp will look to defend their intramural championship in basketball while also looking to win Greek Week for the third consecutive year. The men also participated in the Live Your Oath event, addressing sexual assault and bystander intervention, with the women of Alpha Delta Pi on March 28. We are planning to attend all of the philanthropic events around the Manhattan area and are working diligently to set up our own philanthropic event that will last for years to come. We hope to host more alumni-centered and brotherhood events both at the Chapter House and around the Manhattan area. We are planning an alumni event at Tointon Family Stadium for a baseball game, and will possibly reserve an event space either downtown or in Aggieville for the participants of the event to interact. This is the busiest time for recruitment, so there will no doubt be multiple recruitment events going on this spring. We are planing a grill out on the basketball court that will serve as both a fun and friendly event for prospective members and the men of Sigma Phi Epsilon, among other events. With CLA, Ruck Leadership Institute, and Conclave on the horizon, the spring semester will no doubt be an exciting one. Despite the busyness of this semester, we will not forget about our wonderful housemother Diann Veith. She was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer and has been away from the house for treatments. Through everything she has stayed positive. Diann has only been our housemother for one semester but she has impacted all the men in a meaningful and positive way. The spring semester is no doubt the busiest time of the year for Sigma Phi Epsilon, but also one that will continue to project the Chapter in a positive light for years to come. Fraternally, Ryan Rysavy '19 Chapter President rprysavy@ksu.edu The executive team had a retreat with the Regional Director Paul Andersen, Northern Iowa '16. In the meeting, Chapter goals for the upcoming year were discussed and planned out.
