appy 150th birthday to Nebraska! The
new art project, which will represent and
display this significant event, is
a heart statue. This is a six-foot
fiberglass sculpture and each
one is decorated differently.
We selected the heart that
most resembled our lyre. This
project is fully endorsed by the
city of Lincoln, the University
of Nebraska, the Alumnae
Association, and the State of
Nebraska.
Liz Shea McCoy (Nebraska KKG), my neighbor
and friend, asked me if ACW would be interested
in hosting a heart on our property. Learning that
four sororities had agreed, and the fact that our
house is the "Gateway to the UNL campus," I
decided to pursue the possibility
of raising the $3,000 to sponsor
this historic event. Thanks to our
Xi Chapter HCB who supported
my idea and underwrote the
expense!
If you were in our state in the
past few years, you remember
the metal bicycle campaign.
When you drive around the city,
you can still enjoy the bikes.
The next artist project was the lightbulbs, which
appeared all over town. It was a game to drive
around to photograph each one.
Now we have hearts—you have to "luv it." Our
heart will stay in our front yard for only a few
months as they are later auctioned and moved at
the owner's request.
Sisters, have a heart and help me support this fun
and visual project. A donation of $10 or more from
many of you would pay this installation cost. I am
psyched about our heart and know campus visitors
will be impressed. Please make checks payable
