She ran for the vice president intellectual development (VPID) position because she wanted to make a difference in the Xi Chapter. Her goal is to make Alpha Chi a more academically based sorority by working side by side with her sisters instead of simply telling them to get good grades. As VPID, her largest goal is to create a positive atmosphere by recognizing women who display continual academic success in the chapter, implementing rewards, and promoting positive academic habits and behavior. Additionally, she is meeting with members individually regarding their personal, academic achievements and weaknesses. Her overall objective is to help, influence, and motivate the women of Xi Chapter to improve, excel, and appreciate the importance of academic success regarding their college experience. Every other week she hosts study dates for the members at various locations such as Alpha Chi Omega's basement, local coffee shops, or library study rooms. These study dates allow the collegians to study together and promote an academic interest environment. Lauren is also continuing the Guardian Angel Program. This program connects upperclassmen with lowerclassmen in the same major or similar career objectives. This has resulted in continuous communication between new members and promotes academic success. Lauren will also continue to co-host the leadership recognition ceremony with the Educational Corporation. She believes that the ceremony is an amazing opportunity to motivate the members of Xi Chapter. It provides recognition for hard work in their academic success. Lauren would like the alumnae of Alpha Chi Omega to know how grateful she is for all their dedication, time, and support. Meet Lauren O'Malley— Vice President Intellectual Development Zero Debt J essica salzar '16 is a freshman at UNL majoring in finance, and received a scholarship from the Educational Corporation for having a 4.0 GPA. She is very driven to be debt free when she leaves college. Any scholarship money she receives always goes toward schooling to ensure that she leaves college with zero debt. She joined Alpha Chi for the involvement opportunities and the sisterhood, which she has received in spades. Xi Chapter provides Jessica with an extraordinary amount of volunteering and philanthropic opportunities, as well as the chance to meet many people. She believes she has met some of the best girls through Alpha Chi, and is so thankful for her new friends. Jessica is involved in a variety of activities, including student council, Future Business Leaders of America, cheerleading, National Honors Society, and Service Club. Being a leader contributes to her membership in Alpha Chi. She believes that self-leadership is required to attend every Alpha Chi event, maintain good grades, and represent the chapter in a positive manner. She would like to thank the alumnae for their contributions to Xi Chapter. They donate so much of their own time and effort to Alpha Chi, and the current members greatly appreciate their ongoing support.
