A lwAy s Anchored Sigma Chapter of Delta gamma * NorthweSterN UNiverSity s p r i n g 2 0 1 7 Sigma chapter Appreciates Alumnae Support renovations gearing up for a May start Date H appy New Year! Sigma house corporation sends greetings for a healthy and enriching 2017. We are in the midst of our kitchen renovation and are finalizing the design and layout before work begins in May. We have added to the scope by including the renovation of the dining room lighting, ceiling, and floor, as well as the renovation of the downstairs office outside of the dining room. Historical fun fact: The downstairs office was originally a shower room. After looking over the original architectural plans, we were all astonished to find that out! No one knew why it was so cold in winter and hot in summer until we learned there is no insulation and the floor tilts toward the center where the drain once was. All of this will be remedied this summer, but this "discovery" reminded us that it is as important to know where you came from along with where you are headed. In April, two house corporation members will attend a leadership conference training given by Delta Gamma. We will collaborate with other advisors from all over the country to embrace and enhance our roles as volunteers in service to our fraternity. Our board remains strong and diverse in age and talent and is dedicated to maintaining a safe, functional, and beautiful structure. I look forward to you meeting some of our board members in our next newsletter! Last fall, we initiated our first fundraising communication. Thank you so much to all who donated to the Delta Gamma Building Fund of Sigma. We are still in the process of completing thank-yous, but if you have not received one yet, it is on its way. Sigma house corporation is truly grateful and does not want to forget anyone who was so generous. We are also thrilled so many of you shared a memory of your time at Northwestern and of Sigma. We have shared some below. I welcome any feedback or suggestions for this newsletter. If you know of a sister who is "Doing Good" and should have a spotlight on them or their organization, please drop me a line. As always, feel free to visit the chapter house whenever you are in the area, and do not hesitate to contact me in advance to ensure you can enter the house—even in the summer. In the Bonds, Lisa C.
