Kappa Alpha Chapter of Kappa Delta at Florida State University • Spring 2017 Always Think of KD Kappa Alpha Announces $1 Million Ensuring the Tradition of Excellence Campaign Alumnae, Join Us in Supporting is Exciting Endeavor F or more than 100 years, the rich traditions of Kappa Delta have made a significant impact on the lives of women at Florida State University. Many of our most special college memories involve our Kappa Alpha sisters. Kappa Delta's values and history have sustained generations of our sisterhood and impacted the members of the university community. The time has come to turn our attention toward the next 100 years of Kappa Alpha and how we can secure our place as a premier leader on campus and within Kappa Delta. CHAPTER HOUSE SHOWS AGE Much work has been done in recent years to keep up with the demands of a constantly growing Chapter, including the 2011 expansion of the dining room and sleeping rooms to accommodate our membership of nearly 300. However, many needs still exist and must be addressed. A kitchen in need of renovation and expansion, enlarged dining and gathering spaces, and additional bedrooms all top our list of necessary projects. While we expanded the dining room in 2011, the kitchen was untouched, leaving us with a space unsuitable to prepare meals for 300 women daily. Today's students place more demands on the Chapter House than in the past, and we must make sure we have funds to be proactive, rather than reactive, in keeping up with maintenance and projected growth of the Chapter. $1 MILLION CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCED Given these immediate needs and our long-term vision, the House Corporation and the capital campaign committee are proud to announce: Ensuring the Tradition of Excellence - The Vision for Kappa Alpha's Future capital campaign. Funds raised during this campaign will go toward our long-term plan for the Chapter and projects planned over the next 10 years. The projects mentioned above will not happen unless we raise the necessary funds. MORE THAN $500,000 RAISED SO FAR Early commitments from 49 generous alumnae, undergraduates, and friends total $527,275. This is a great start, but we need your help to reach and exceed our campaign goal of $1 million. Our undergraduates have shown their full commitment in the future of Kappa Alpha by making a gift of $100,000. Every dollar donated will be a long-term investment in the future of the Chapter. As alumnae, it is our duty to be stewards of our beloved Kappa Alpha, and we hope all alumnae will accept this responsibility. In the coming weeks, you will receive more information on the project and the ways in which you can help. As the first sorority founded at Florida State, Kappa Alpha has been a leader on campus for over 100 years, and this campaign will help us lead for the next 100 and beyond. Please join us as we strive to maintain our tradition of excellence.
