Tuesday, August 7, 2012 – Daily News a buy of his own, offering to take the electronics seller private only months after leaving as the company's chairman. Best Buy Co. said it would consider the offer but called it ''high- ly conditional.'' And analysts are skeptical that former Chairman Richard Schulze's opening offer of $24 to $26 per share would get a deal done and that it could be tricky to line up investment firms to help pay for it. It's the latest twist in the Minneapolis company's struggles to stay Best Buy founder offers to buy co NEW YORK (AP) — Best Buy's co-founder is looking to make relevant as more people buy electronics online. Over the past year, it has announced a major restructuring plan and fired CEO Brian Dunn amid allegations that he had an inappropriate relationship with a female employee. LEGAL NOTICE Best Buy is trying to avoid the fate of its rival Circuit City, which went bankrupt in 2009, partly because of changing shopper habits. The offer values the company at as much as $8.84 billion. Schulze already has 20.1 percent of the stock in the company, so paying for the rest of shares would mean coming up with about $6.9 billion. Schulze resigned as chairman in May, after Dunn's departure. A company investigation found that Schulze knew about the inappro- priate relationship and failed to alert the board or human resources. Schulze had been expected to stay on the board until the compa- ny's annual shareholder meeting in June, but he resigned unexpect- edly before the meeting and said he was exploring options for his hefty stake in the company. Analysts had been expecting a possible bid since that announcement. ''Immediate and substantial changes are needed for the company to return to its market-leading ways,'' Schulze said in a statement. ''It is my strong belief that Best Buy's best chance for renewed success is to implement with urgency the necessary changes as a private company.'' Schulze's offer would represent a 36 percent to 47 percent premi- um over the company's Friday closing stock price. Schulze said he would have preferred to pursue a deal privately but went public with the offer for the sake of speed. Police: 911 caller seeking ride for beer arrested COLUMBIA, Tenn. (AP) — When you're out of beer and need a ride to get some, who you gonna' call? Police Officer Seneca Shield said he told Allen Troy Brooks that if he cooperated, he would just receive a citation. But authorities said Brooks denied making calls and claimed he didn't have a telephone. Brooks was arrested and charged with making 911 calls in a non- emergency situation. He was released on bond. A phone number listed for Brooks was out of ser- vice on Monday and no attorney was listed in court records. The Columbia Daily Herald reported city police arrested a 67-year-old man after he allegedly called emergency dispatchers at least nine times Saturday. Most of the calls were hang-ups, but a dispatcher said at least once, the caller asked if someone could send him a ride so he could buy beer. Not 911. NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bid- ding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on a property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bid- der at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien be- ing auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priori- ty, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property bi h by contacting the county re- corder's office or a title insur- ance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this in- formation. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER The sale date shown on this no- tice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code.
