Lambda Chi Alpha | Gamma Upsilon Chapter North Carolina State University | Fall 2016 BUZ GUZ Alumni Leadership Meets with University for Project Approval Make a Gift to Lambda Chi Alpha Today! Make a gift today! lxagammaupsilon. kintera.org/donate B rothers! We write to you today with more exciting news. On October 27, the alumni leadership of Gamma Upsilon met with North Carolina State University officials to finalize our plans for our new home. We shared with them floorplans, renderings, and information related to our alumni support. This is an exciting step as we continue to move forward with our ongoing LCA: A Legacy of Excellence Continues campaign. Throughout this entire process we have spoken with brothers of all ages regarding the details for our new house, which has been so thoughtfully designed by lead architect Carl Winsted, GU 901 and will be spearheaded by general contractor and Lambda Chi Alpha brother Ken Dull, GU 826. We hear from brothers over and over again the same sentiments—that this new house will lead us into the next chapter for Gamma Upsilon, and that we couldn't be more excited for what is to come. We have accomplished much since we started our campaign. Since then, we've raised more than $1.53 million, and have collected more than $630,000 of that. This shows us that brothers are committed to this project and are staying true to their pledge. We continue to be extremely thankful for the leadership these 102 alumni have shown in making a gift to the campaign. We wouldn't be where we are today without their support. But we still have a long way to go to meet our $2.5 million goal. We have less than $1 million left to raise, but are confident that as our plans continue to take shape those who have doubted our project will join those 102 brothers who have already donated. Remember, each and every gift is important. Whether that is $50 or $50,000, we appreciate gifts of all sizes. And don't forget that gifts can be spread out over a five-year pledge period. This opportunity is one that almost all of our brothers have taken advantage of in order to maximize their gift. You would be amazed at what $500 a year for five years can do! And, when that is broken down, it comes out to just $42 a month, which is a little more than $1 a day. Can't you give $1 a day for our Fraternity? As you make plans for your end-of-year donations, please don't forget about Lambda Chi Alpha! Fraternally, Cory Wade, GU 1215 cjwade1215@gmail.com Evan Jones, GU 1223 emjones5@ncsu.edu T he undergraduate Chapter of Gamma Upsilon has continued to grow from this spring into the current semester. With the addition of our new fall class, we now total 117 undergraduate members. Even at our current size, we have not slowed down in our mission to become better men morally, academically, and socially. Formal recruitment took place in early September. As a Chapter, we were greatly pleased to hit our goal both with the quantity and the quality of the 27 men who joined. We are extremely thankful for Brother Carl Winstead, GU 901, who spent over eight hours speaking during recruitment about the new LCA house. Our Associate Members were incredibly excited about the new house and enjoyed hearing the details. We know that the new house helped with our recruitment efforts and we could not be more thankful for Brother Winsted and his support. Dedication to Academics With a Chapter GPA of 3.16, Gamma Upsilon holds the fourth-highest GPA among all fraternities on campus. What is most impressive about our academic performance is our dedication to new member grades. Last spring, Gamma Upsilon's 12 Associate Members obtained a GPA of 3.28, the highest new member GPA of any Fraternity.
