T his year at Homecoming, we celebrated 113 years of the Beta-Chi Chapter of Kappa Sigma on the MS&T campus. The event was attended by over 100 alumni, undergraduates, and guests. In addition to the Chapter report presented by Reno Reed '13 and my house corporation report, Ron Acker '75 was recognized by the undergraduates for his dedication and commitment to the Chapter. Ron spends several days each month at the house making repairs and improvements. We appreciate all he does to keep the facility in great shape. Every year at Homecoming, the Alumni House Fund holds the annual meeting and election of officers. I am honored to be elected president, Ed Jantosik '76 is vice president, Rich Manning '78 is the treasurer, and Jeff Fritzmeyer '10 is the secretary. We also recognized Bill Kirchoff '60 for donating the flagpole. The flagpole flies the U.S. and Kappa Sigma flags—a very classy touch to an already first-class facility. The U.S. flag was donated by Tom Gredell '76. A plaque will be placed in the foyer to recognize Bill's donation. Several weeks ago, I was fortunate to have been invited to the '50s reunion in Branson. It was so cool to see the fellowship and brotherhood shared over 50 years after graduation. See the article on page 4 from Bill Ricketts '58 describing the event. Over the past five years, Kappa Sigma has been dominating recruitment. However, this year our Chapter, along with most of the larger fraternities, felt the impact of the new dorms. We are quick to bounce back with a strong spring recruitment. We are also laying the groundwork for a successful fall 2017 recruitment. To that end, we ask all alumni that know of quality young men attending Rolla next school year to pass along their names and contact information to the recruitment chairman, Blaine Hrovat '15, at bthcn5@mst.edu or (573) 465-8124 so that the Chapter can continue to grow our brotherhood. We all love our Brothers and the Fraternity. It is hard to put a value on what the Fraternity has done for each of us: a lifetime of friends and Brothers, social skills, leadership skills, and for some of us, we met our wives as a result of Kappa Sigma. Alumni support is critical to the success of any chapter and I want to thank each of you for your continued support. Don't forget about Founder's Day on Wednesday, December 14 at Maggie O'Briens and the Christmas happy hour on December 27 at Llywelyn's in Webster Groves, Missouri.
