Cornell Alpha Beta Alumnae Alpha Beta Data ALPHA BETA COMPLETES MAJOR RENOVATIONS, WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBERS W hat a remarkable year at 118 Triphammer! The House Corporation completed a substantial number of improvements to the house over the past year. Spearheaded by Cathy Chang Ko '76 and the property committee, Carol Benson Antos '77, Deborah Lathrop Lechner '77, and JoAnne Tomczak '75 this work included: • Improvements and repairs to the house from the property condition assessment report. • Implementation of energy audit recommendations to improve energy efficiency (including improved thermostatic temperature control of boilers, switching to use of LED lights, and installation of hot water pipes and low flow faucet aerators). • Repainting the exterior brick at several places on the house. • Installation of improved lighting in the parking lot. • Most significantly, the house will now have a dry basement, as the water infiltration in the basement and roofs has been fixed by installing a comprehensive underground drainage system and gutters. Trees that were causing the water drainage problems on the sun roof were removed. A tremendous thank-you to the extraordinary board members from the 2015-16 school year: Cathy Chang Ko '77, Jan Hendershot '77, Barb Wooten Chamberlain '78, Sharon Hayner '84, and Jessica Beidelman '12. These women really did yeoman's work to rebuild the board, tackle a number of house improvements, and increase our presence and communication with Chapter members. Three board members from last year will continue forward: Heather Britt '93, Hayley Easton '08, and Robin Secord '85. We're also delighted to welcome our new board members for the 2016- 17 school year: Kim Miller Beres '95, Marianne Gardy Passarelli '82, and Terry Schuster Petracca '76. Welcome to the team! Together, we aim for a special year in service to the home and sisters of Tri Delta at Cornell. Kim will serve as our communications committee chairman; Robin will serve as our vice president and chairwoman of the property committee; Terry will serve as our treasurer and chairman of the finance committee; and Marianne will serve as our secretary. Please join me in congratulating these board members and thanking them for their willingness to serve. As always, if you are in Ithaca, please stop by and see the house and all of the improvements! We are always looking for volunteers, so contact me if you would like to get involved. We'd love to have your expertise on a project basis or longer term, whichever matches your lifestyle. You don't need to live in Ithaca to help! Happy fall to everyone! "I knew I would find friends and gain benefits through joining a group of women who would empower me and make me feel like I was truly part of something bigger than myself," she says. "Tri Delta really impressed me during recruitment, and after connecting with many of the members, there was no question that I wanted to be part of this amazing sisterhood." As the corresponding secretary and marshall for Alpha Beta, Judy gained invaluable leadership experience that would make a profound impact on her professional career. "Having the privilege to serve as a leader in Alpha Beta was very rewarding and left me with a sense of gratitude every day. These positions helped me grow as a leader and gave me the confidence to pursue opportunities I didn't think were possible."
