There is new flooring and furniture in the rec room, including a bistro table in the back. The new rectangular dining room tables are lightweight, allowing for more seating during formal dinners and flexible layouts for programs and activities. The vanity countertops in the upstairs rooms have been refinished. One of my favorite updates from this summer is the landscaping in the backyard. The new wall is perfect for taking pictures on Bid Day and throughout the year. In June, our treasurer, Carrie Call Prater '93, and I attended the Alpha Chi Omega National Convention in Orlando, Florida, along with several other Gamma Zeta alumnae and collegians. I am pleased to share that for the second Convention in a row our house corporation board was recognized with a gold level certification. This is the highest certification level given to house corporations, and I am proud of the work that we have done over the past few years to achieve it. Of course, this success is only made possible thanks to the dedication of our alumnae volunteers. The house corporation meets approximately six times per year at the Gamma Zeta chapter house. Y ou may know Sierra Scott '82, or Patricia Meusburger as she was known as an undergraduate, from her roles in front of the camera as the co-host of "The Brett and Sierra Show" or as the host of "It's ALL Good," both on KCSW in Wichita, Kansas. For all the success she has experienced in her career, Sierra counts becoming an Alpha Chi as "one of the best decisions I ever made in my life." Sierra said she arrived at Kansas State knowing exactly what she wanted to major in—radio and television broadcasting— and she's never wavered from that decision. She elaborated, "I have always been fascinated by what makes people tick and why they do the things they do. I also like knowing the story behind the story." Sierra is also passionate about using the power of broadcasting to tell positive narratives about how individuals can affect change in their communities. Over the course of her career, she's traveled to 27 different countries and loves getting to know people and telling their tales. Learning to get along with people with different experiences and perspectives was something Sierra attributes to her time in the Alpha Chi chapter house. "Looking back on it now," she said, "Alpha Chi Omega was so instrumental in shaping me and my future success…it played an enormous role in every aspect of my career." It wasn't only the networking that influenced her career; it was learning to be a part of a group of strong, like-minded women. This meant asking questions and taking guidance from older chapter members, adhering to the rules, whether or not she thought they were fair, and keeping in mind the needs and goals of the larger group. sierra scott '82 reflects on the role alpha Chi played in her success ACW ACW (Continued on page 2)
