This summer, the flooring was renovated in the dining room, and the recently installed solar panels are up and running. We strive for academic excellence and have maintained our ranking among the top chapters on campus for GPA and above the all-men's campus average with a 3.3 GPA. In the spring, we had more than 15 philanthropic events, raising more than $17,000 for Derby Days. We have continued this philanthropic trend for the fall, starting with Merlin Olsen Day, which was held on September 11. "We're looking forward to raising local and national awareness for cancer research and treatment and we want to use philanthropy as a mode of socialization between other communities and organizations on campus," Charles Yang '18 says. We led a very successful recruitment this semester, adding 16 new pledges thanks to Recruitment Chairmen Aiden Rafii '18 and Markus Kytomaa '18. These young men will go through the new Preparation for Brotherhood program led by Magister Trent Speetzen '17. Our chapter strives to be leaders of men, evidenced by the outstanding positions held by our brothers. Matt Anderson '17 is the captain of the club soccer team, Valentino Calderon '17 spent the summer maintaining Amazon's data centers, and Matthew Thomas '17 works in the controller's office in San Francisco City Hall. This past semester, we won the competitive football league and are eager to maintain our title. We have high hopes for success in intramural basketball, dodge ball, and softball. "I think we have a great group of guys who are really excited to get on the field and compete this semester. We are especially looking forward to defending our title in flag football, and the creation of multiple coed teams with various sororities," Clay Carey '17 says.
