p. 3 SIGMA PHI EPSILON Texas alpha MeMbers achieve acadeMically and in leadership roles Undergraduate Members Seek Internship Opportunities A s summer and recruitment wrap up, we look forward to another exciting year here at the SigEp house. The chapter is in top shape—we accepted a new member class of 54 outstanding young men from across the state and country, putting our total member count just above 180. We have consistently outperformed every fraternity of remotely comparable size, as well as campuswide metrics in academics over the last several semesters, most recently having earned a 3.36 active chapter GPA for the spring 2016 semester. Of course, we are still thriving socially and athletically as well. We won an intramural basketball championship and the usual fall tailgate and party line up will get going at the beginning of the semester. It's sure to be yet another great time. As always, members of Texas Alpha Chapter have earned leadership roles across several of the most prominent organizations on UT's campus, from academic organizations in McCombs and Cockrell to universitywide clubs and philanthropic organizations. Members will participate in a number of philanthropic endeavors this year, and we will also have our usual new member fundraising effort that will raise several thousand dollars to donate to charity. We are well aware and very thankful that the chapter's existence is dependent on participation from our dedicated alumni, and we hope to see y'all at tailgates this fall. Our Founders' Day tailgate will be on campus before the Baylor game. We will also host tailgates for every other home game at the house. Finally, as the year goes on, please let myself or any active know of any job or internship opportunities that you may be able to provide to undergraduates. We have continued to extend bids to only the most high-achieving men on campus, and we have several brothers who would love to work with alumni. On this front, we have paired with SigEp alumnus and UT faculty member Daniel Liu, SMU '08, as a career search mentor. We look forward to seeing all of y'all at tailgates this fall!
