Our members were heavily involved in leadership programs and many attended the Balfour Leadership Training Workshop. Recruitment in Full Swing Sigma Chi started off the summer strong by extending nine bids and having eight men accept. We are working hard to ensure we find new members who fit the standard and embody what it truly means to be Sigma Chi. Recruitment committees have been set up in the Chapter to build on this success and raise our involvement with recruitment this fall. Brothers Take on Leadership Opportunities Members of Epsilon Kappa are leaders in many organizations on campus. Jared Rodgers '16 is the current IFC president, Chase Elliot '17, Justin Rountree '18, and Chandler McCullough '18 are all members of Tiger Elite, and a number of brothers are emerging leaders or part of the Honors program. Daniel Stevenson '18 and Justin served as orientation guides this year, and we have five Frosh Camp counselors who served this summer as well. Epsilon Kappa Focused on Philanthropy Sigma Chi focused on starting off the spring semester right by hosting the inagural Special Olympics Golf Tournament at Glenn Eagle Golf Course. Jack Dudley '17 created and planned the entire tournament, which raised more than $2,500 for Special Olympics of Greater Memphis. The tournament consisted of more than 50 contributors, and we are looking to expand this tournament drastically next year. The Chapter is looking forward to the fall semester, bringing back Derby Days, and continuously involving ourselves in campus philanthropies. Brothers Attend BLTW The fraternity welcomed 1,805 brothers, including 1,326 undergraduates, to the 2016 Balfour Leadership Training Workshop (BLTW) at Bowling Green State University. This was the 21st time the fraternity has hosted BLTW at Bowling Green State, making it the event's most popular site since it was first hosted at the university in 1955. Epsilon Kappa brought 12 members, including five emerging leaders. Alumni facilitators led undergraduate attendees in large and small group sessions based on their officer positions in discussions about best practices and how to deal with commonly faced problems. Later, the undergraduates convened with their chapter brothers and alumni advisors to formulate chapter-specific goals for the fall. The workshop also focused heavily on the new Preparation for Brotherhood (P4B) program. The new pledging program was received positively and we are excited to bring this back to the Chapter to implement. Along with gaining knowledge and leadership skills at BLTW, the Epsilon Kappa Chapter was recognized as a Legion of Honor Chapter and was awarded a Blue Peterson for the 13th time out of the last 14 years. Thank You, Loyal Alumni Alumni, thank you for your support and guidance. We would not be the Chapter we are today without the example you have set. The men of Epsilon Kappa are proud to add to the history of Sigma Chi at U of M. By striking a balance between academic success, philanthropy, and involvement, our active members are leaving a lasting impact on Greek life, on campus, and in the surrounding community for years to come.
