T hough it's been but two years since grad- uation for Bethany Gephart '11, she can already see how Kappa has made an impact on who she is personally and professionally. Her degree in public affairs, specializing in non-profit management, and a minor in business opened the door to a position with the non-profit organization, Gladden Community House, as their development director before transitioning into a position with an independent investment-consulting firm, Everhart Advisors. "Kappa taught me how to be a leader—to both adapt to and work with many personalities. The sorority showed me the importance of giving back in my community and holding myself to the highest standard. These are all les- sons that I put to use every day." Reflecting on the importance of Kappa, it's amazing to think that going into her freshman year, Bethany wasn't sold on even going through recruitment. But once she started school, Bethany quickly realized that in a school as big as Ohio State, she needed to find a way to make the campus a little smaller. "I quickly fell in love with Kappa. After being around the actives for even just five minutes, I could tell that they genuinely enjoyed being together and they made me feel right at home. I remember this being a common observa- tion from many of the girls I went through recruitment with—the sisterhood at Kappa was instantly felt and seemed to be the strongest of any of the sororities." Kappa's impact was strong enough to keep Bethany in- volved just as soon as she graduated. She has been a member of the Beta Nu Building Association since grad- uating in May of 2014 and served as treasurer last year. When the capital campaign began, she made the decision to give back financially as well. "Kappa has given me so much more than I could ever return. It was important for me to give to the chapter's capital campaign because I wanted to help ensure that other women could have the same experiences that I had as an active. The renovations made to the house ensure that we will be able to continue to recruit competitively for generations to come."
