ElectToLaugh:2016with Will Durst is a brand-new, hysterical, one-man show stalking the presidential election cycle like white on rice and will be on the State Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 15. Ably assisted by his trusty overhead projector, this hi- larious 80-minute produc- tion reflects Durst's out- raged and outrageous sensi- bilities, accessing the topical through the jugular, as cur- rent as Hillary Clinton's lead staffer's latest tweet. Acknowledged by peers and press alike as one of the premier political satirists in the country, Will Durst has patched together a comedy quilt of a career, weaving to- gether columns, books, ra- dio and television commen- taries, acting, voice overs and most especially, stand- up comedy, into a hilarious patchwork of outraged and outrageous common sense. His abiding motto is "You can'tmakestuffuplikethis." The New York Times calls Durst "possibly the best po- litical comic in the country." FoxNewsagrees,"he'sagreat political satirist," while the Oregonianhailshimasa"hi- larious stand-up journalist." This former radio talk host, oyster shucker and margarine smuggler writes a nationally syndicated hu- mor column, and his scrib- blings have appeared in the DailyNews,Esquire,George, the San Francisco Chroni- cle, National Lampoon, The New York Times and scads of other periodicals. Durst is a 5 time Emmy nominee; has been fired by PBS three times; told jokes in 14 countries; racked up 7 nominations for Stand-Upof the Year; and his 800+ tele- vision appearances include Letterman, HBO, Show- time, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, FoxNews, theBBCandmany more. The critically acclaimed Off-Broadway run of his one man show The All American Sport of Bipartisan Bashing was subsequently turned into a book of the same name by Ulysses Press. His hobbies include pinball, the never-ending quest for the perfect cheeseburger and his heroes remain the same as when he was 12: Thomas Jefferson and Bugs Bunny. Notnecessarilyinthatorder. STATETHEATRE Durst Will Durst to perform Elect to Laugh Have you ever found something and wondered, "Where has this been all my life?" That was my reaction to a sim- ple, heavy- duty clean- ing product: Lestoil. Ap- parently it's been man- ufactured right here in the U.S. for more than 80 years and is loved by many. Cu- riously, I'd never heard of it until just a few months ago. On the off chance you are not familiar with this powerful cleaner of all things hopelessly stained, here are 10 things you will enjoy knowing. Number 1: Lestoil is a heavy-duty, multi-purpose cleaner that can be used at full strength on stains, especially really diffi- cult stains — the kinds of stains you just give up on, such as ink, toner, grease, oil, scuff marks, blood, lipstick, nail polish, grass, coffee, crayon, marker and even the sticky resi- due from stickers and la- bels. Number 2: Lestoil has been around since 1933. Although I haven't been around quite that long, I do wonder where I've been, since I've only learned about this prod- uct in the past few months. Number 3: Lestoil has removed every old stain I ever gave up on, as well as every new stain I've ac- quired since it came into my life — on clothing, carpet, concrete and all kinds of patio furniture, including molded plastic. It removed black stains that accumulated on out- door furniture covers. It made short order of some ugly stains on cultured stone. It removed that gross stickiness from vi- nyl and plastic, returning the smooth, clean finish. Lestoil has worked on ev- erything I've tried so far. Number 4: Lestoil contains sodium tal- late, among other things, which is a type of soap. This means that once its job is done, it must be washed off or otherwise removed to make sure the item being treated doesn't retain a residue that will attract a new stain. Number 5: Lestoil has a strong odor. It smells like an industrial factory that is being cleaned with pine oil. That's be- cause it does contain pine essential oil, a pow- erful, natural cleaner and degreaser. This is another reason you will always want to wash off Lestoil once its job is done. But so far the odor hasn't remained long term after I've used it. Number 6: Lestoil is highly concentrated. A little goes a long way. You want to use it at full strength for laun- dry stains, but in a small amount — just enough to cover the stain. Then, scrub gently with an old toothbrush. Wait for 10 to 15 minutes, and then launder the item as usual. For large jobs like clean- ing tile or linoleum floors, dilute about 1 cup of Lestoil in a bucket of hot water. Number 7: Lestoil is powerful. It's so strong that it can dissolve the finish on water-based and oil-based painted sur- faces, laminate and wood floors when used at full strength. Therefore, do not use it at full strength on these types of surfaces. Even if you intend to use it in a weak dilution, al- ways test in an inconspic- uous place first before us- ing it on any painted, laminate or wood sur- faces. Number 8: When di- luted in water (2 table- spoons Lestoil to 1 cup water), this product will remove greasy, oily stains from carpet. Make sure the stain is saturated well and then scrub with a clean, white cloth. Blot the stain, and then re- peat the steps as nec- essary until the stain is gone. Be sure to rinse well and blot well to dry. Always test the solution in a closet or other incon- spicuous place. Number 9: Lestoil is smelly. Did I already say that? I need to empha- size it. Make sure you wear gloves when work- ing with it. Seriously. This stuff is strong, but not unreasonably harm- ful. And it's totally worth the smell, which dissipates fairly quickly. Whenever possible use it outdoors. Number 10: Lestoil is not a well-known prod- uct, therefore it can be difficult to find. I have yet to find a store in my area that has even one bottle for sale. However, I sug- gest you check Walmart, Lowe's and Home Depot. Your best bet is to buy it online, where it is readily available. Wouldyouliketosend a tip to Mary? Spark arresters are re- quired on chainsaws being used for people filling valid personal use wood cutting permits and may only be used on designated roads and trails. "We invite the public to enjoy this great forest and remember that we all have a responsibility to help pre- vent wildfires," said Forest Supervisor Ann Carlson. "Please respect the fire re- strictions and be careful when using anything with a flame or that can throw a spark." Temporary fire restric- tions are put in place to provide for public safety, protect natural resources and limit the threat of hu- man-caused wildfires. Sim- ilar restrictions are going into effect on neighboring forests. However, restric- tions can vary by forest and visitors should check with the national forest they plan on visiting for the latest fire restrictions and conditions. Violation of these fire re- strictions is punishable by a fine of no more than $5,000 for an individual, $10,000 for an organization, or up to six months imprison- ment or both.
