With a renewed vision for the future, brothers actively contributed to the wellbeing of the chapter. Among the successes of this semester are spring recruitment, our new Alumni Speaker Series, Greek Week 2016, Carlson Leadership Academy, and our spring brotherhood retreat. Brotherhood Gains strenGth in numBers We initiated 28 new members into the Sigma class during the fall 2015 semester, and spring recruitment brought in 12 new members, who Ohio Theta Celebrates Chapter Success Positive outlook for future endeavors Ohio Theta receives the Chapter Home of the Year Award at the 2016 Carlson Leadership Academy. The spring brotherhood retreat held in Nippert Stadium's new press box. boast an average GPA of 3.36. The men come from five different schools at the University. Thanks to the hard work of Vice President of Recruitment Michael Irvine '18 and Recruitment Events Chairman Jonathan King '20, our chapter saw a 100% bid acceptance rate. invaluaBle lessons learned from alumni leadership presentations The first Alumni Speaker Series was in January and featured Mike Taney '91, who shared his recipe for success in working in the corporate world. A few weeks later, Judd Weis '87 presented his valuable lessons in leadership. In mid-March, Ryan Rybolt '97 also presented his tips for a successful and productive life after college. The undergraduates have been extremely responsive to the alumni presentations and are looking forward to more in the future. Greek Week at-a-Glance SigEp led second in Greek Week 2016, which was themed "Through the Decades." Notable highlights were first place in the Triathlon and second place in this year's Variety Show. Brother Braden Baldwin '17 choreographed this year's performance, which included pop culture references to Grease, Top Gun, Friends, and American Idol. Brother Alec Hoschouer '19 served as this year's Greek Week chairman. ohio theta Wins house aWard Chapter Home of the Year was awarded to Ohio Theta at the 2016 Carlson Leadership Academy. Our chapter was recognized for our new facility as well as the programed events that aid our strong and comfortable living-learning environment. Twenty-one undergraduates and seven alumni were able to attend the 2016 Carlson Leadership Academy. Brothers focused on positive siGep experience The spring brotherhood retreat was hosted at the West Pavilion of Nippert Stadium on March 5th. Brother Ryan Reese '18 curated the retreat, which placed a strong emphasis on the personal experience of fraternal life. Discussions revolved around passion and personal responsibility. University of Cincinnati professor Greg Sizemore was the keynote speaker and delivered a compelling lecture on the topic. alumni involvement key to successful chapter Our chapter is also excited about our new Queen of Hearts, Malorie Mullinger, and we had a blast during Parent's Weekend April 2-3. We finished the semester strong and enjoyed laying the groundwork to set new precedents for the fall semester. Of course, our success is dependent on the support of our parents and alumni, whose generosity strengthens our chapter. For that, I say thank you and encourage any alumni in the area to stop by the chapter house to say hello and meet the young men who are following in your footsteps and carrying on the Ohio Theta legacy.
