Ohio Theta Faculty Fellow Named Dean of Clermont College D r. Jeff Bauer, Ohio Pi '88, who has served as the faculty fellow of the Ohio Theta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon since 2004, has recently been named dean of the University of Cincinnati Clermont College. Dr. Bauer graduated from Wright State University with a B.S. in marketing. After receiving an MBA from the University of Dayton, he founded his own consulting firm, Bauer and Taylor Management Consulting, where he helped grow a number of organizations before departing for academia. In the spirit of Sound Mind, he earned his D.B.A. from the University of Sarasota in 2002 and continues to do research in organization and behavior in the workplace. Dr. Bauer held a number of faculty roles at both Xavier University and Clark State Community College before coming to teach at the University of Cincinnati-Clermont. While initially unsure at the thought of holding the faculty fellow position, Jeff says once he had the chance to meet the brothers, he knew it was something he wanted to be a part of. During his tenure here, he has played an incredible role in the development of our chapter. He has been involved in bringing other faculty fellows to the chapter and has contributed a great deal with recruitment. Jeff has also enjoyed teaching four different classes at the house to both brothers and people outside of the chapter. As such, Dr. Bauer has been integral in ensuring our Residential Learning Community as we as lay the groundwork to become a valued partner in higher education. He also served as a mentor for brothers struggling academically and has been a vital support in maintaining our high GPA standards. Jeff says that some of his favorite experiences while serving as faculty fellow were when he brought his young son to the house to interact with the older brothers and the Homecomings he celebrated with the chapter. Throughout his time with us, Dr. Bauer has exemplified the values of a true SigEp through virtue, diligence, and brotherly love, and we have been truly lucky to have had him as a faculty fellow at Ohio Theta. We wish him the best of luck as the new dean of Clermont College, and we hope he will stay connected with the chapter in the coming years. M ike Taney '91 and Judd Weis '87 launched the first Alumni Speaker Series events in January, and Ryan Rybolt '97 followed with a presentation in mid- March. All three events were a huge success, and we are thrilled to have gained extremely useful knowledge that will help guide us in our lives after graduation. There were nearly 40 brothers who were able to attend the events, during which the alumni speakers shared details about their careers, gave professional advice, and reminisced about their time in the chapter. The undergraduates were truly grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the alumni and to acquire knowledge that will help them be successful in their professional endeavors after graduation. first alumni speaker series a success The first Alumni Speaker Series kicked off with a presentation by Mike Taney '91.
