THE LAMBDA LETTER SPRING 2016 ALUMNI NEWSLETTER OF THE LAMBDA CHAPTER OF SIGMA CHI INSIDE: 2 Alumnus Spotlight n 2-3 Lost Brothers n 3 Sigma Chi Men Lead by Example O nce again, the spring semester is coming to a close. I am happy to report that it has been a good year for Lambda Chapter. Thanks to the hard work of the Lambda Corporation and our house director, Cheryl, we entered the year with the house in great shape and a new food service company. The men of Sigma Chi are continuing to uphold our excellent reputation on campus. We initiated two quality groups of men this year and our members continue to amaze me with their fundraising efforts. They hosted several events this semester, including their joint philanthropy event with Beta Theta Pi, Dropping the Puck on Cancer. I am also pleased to share that our bike team trained hard this semester and placed 12th in The Little 500. Repairs Made over Winter Break As our undergraduates have been busy demonstrating their leadership on campus, the Lambda Corporation has focused on the needs of our Chapter House. At the end of the fall semester, a portion of the major piping, which supplies the house with hot water from the boiler for the heating system, finally corroded and began to leak. Fortunately, we were able to make repairs over the winter break. The immediate repairs were made, but we will have more work to do over the summer to complete the project. House Corporation Plans for Future of Our Chapter Every Fraternity has to plan for these types of repairs if their facility is as old as our Chapter House. There will continue to be an ongoing need to support repairs to the physical structure with alumni contributions as we did over winter break. The Lambda Corporation plans to initiate an annual giving campaign to support the upkeep of the Chapter House. There will be more information and a request for annual giving support in our newsletter this fall. Come Visit Lambda Chapter If you get the chance to travel to Bloomington, I would encourage you to stop by the Chapter House. I think you will be amazed at the quality of our undergraduate brothers and the condition of the house. Cheryl does a lot of work to keep our facility in good shape and we are very grateful for all she does. The Lambda Corporation and I are very appreciative of your alumni support. Without you, our Chapter's progress would not be possible. If you have any questions about our housing projects or would like to get involved, please feel free to contact me.
