APRIL 20-26, 2016 UCW 29 WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM a ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Melody Foote Director of Communications Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau Liberty Point Bulletin Cumberland County Ambassadors The Faye eville Area Conven on and Visitors Bureau (FACVB) not only recruits event planners to hold their event in Cumberland County, but we work to ensure that the planner and a endees are educated on Cumberland County's ameni es. Generally first- me visitors don't know about a rac ons, restaurants or retail op ons and the FACVB is proud to be the only agency that shares all things Cumberland County with our visitors. Recently, the All-American Marathon returned to Faye eville and Fort Bragg for the third year. FEATURED PRODUCT TOURISM PASSPORT FACVB staff and volunteer ambassadors staffed a booth throughout the marathon expo. The expo ran Friday night, April 1, and all day Saturday, April 2 ,at the Crown Expo Center. FACVB staff and volunteer ambassadors talked to visitors coming in for the marathon from all over the country. Our visitors asked about places to eat near their hotel, and other things they can see and do while in town for the marathon. That's just one example of outreach the FACVB staff engages in to ensure our residents and visitors know about all of Cumberland County's ameni es. A few other examples of outreach ac vi es: • Staffed a booth at the Dr. Mar n Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast in January • Present monthly to a endees at the Army Community Services (ACS) Newcomers Welcome. • Held bi-monthly familiariza on tours to ensure our hotels and a rac ons are educated on county tourism offerings. When the FACVB doesn't staff an informa on booth at events coming to the community, we do ensure that the event planner has informa on to share with their a endees. Since July of this year, we have provided 15 events with community informa on. These outreach ac vi es are one way we work toward our goal to posi on Cumberland County as a des na on for mee ngs, tournaments and individual travel. The Passport to America's Hometown is a pocket guide to 12 attractions for visitors/lo- cals to visit in Cumberland County. When you complete a visit at one of the 12 sites, your passport is stamped by that location. Every stamp is different and unique to each attrac- tion. Passports can be obtained at our three Visitor Center locations, as well as each of the 11 featured attractions. Featured attractions include: Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum, Airborne and Special Operations Museum, The Arts Council, Averas- boro Battlefield, Cape Fear Botanical Garden, J. Bayard Clark Park and Nature Cen- ter, Fascinate-U Children's Museum. Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local His- tory Museum, John F.
