The tax appeal request seeks a hearing before the Board of Equalization and Review. Requests for appeals may be submitted in person to Tax Administration, Room 530, in the Courthouse at 117 Dick St., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appeal forms are available online at co.cumberland.nc.us/tax. Property Tax Appeal Deadline May 26 Come celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Friends of the Cumberland County Public Library with "Friday Night Fever" on April 29 at 7 p.m. at Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane. Participants are encouraged to wear 1970s outfits. Formed in 1976, the organization supports the library in fulfilling its literary, educational, technological, community and cultural purposes. The non-profit group enhances library services for everyone and encourages gifts, endowments and financial support that would not otherwise be possible. Friends of the Library 40th Anniversary April 29 The Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteer plant sale will be April 30 at 9 a.m. in the front lawn of the Extension office at 301 E. Mountain Dr., Fayetteville. Plant selections will include locally-grown plants to attract birds, bees, and butterflies, as well as drought-tolerant plants. Proceeds from the plant sale will be used to support horticulture scholarships, Cape Fear Botanical Garden, Master Gardener Demonstration Garden, Master Gardener educational programs, Wounded Warrior Tranquility Garden and Second Harvest Food Bank garden. For more information, call 910-321-6882. Extension Master Gardener Plant Sale April 30 The Cumberland County Department of Public Health has been awarded a $16,000 grant from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services to expand its dental sealant program. The grant funds offered through the Oral Health Partnership will be used to pay for sealant supplies. The partnership requires the health department's dental hygienist, Del'Veria Marenco, become a qualified Public Health Dental Hygienist. This will qualify the dental hygienist to apply dental sealants to patients' teeth and increase the clinic's ability to serve more clients. The dental clinic provides services for children from birth to 20 years of age. Services provided include exams, radiographs, hygiene education, cleanings, fluoride, sealants, fillings, extractions, space maintenance, stainless steel crowns and referrals. Payment for service is income-based, according to a sliding scale. The clinic is located in the Public Health Center at 1235 Ramsey St., and is open Monday through Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 1:30 – 5:30 p.m. For more information or to make an appointment, call 910-433-3613.
