He is the second AL pitcher to win five games this sea- son, joining teammate James Shields, who got his fifth victory Wednesday. ''I hope (Shields and I) continue to win, that we compete to match each other win for win,'' said Price, who after going 19-8 in 2010 came in second in the Cy Young voting. Despite the Rays missing star third baseman Evan Longoria, who is out up to two months with a partial torn hamstring, Tampa Bay has been nearly unbeatable at Tropicana Field, where they extended their home winning streak to 10 — one shy of club record set in 2008. The last time Tampa Bay lost at home was April 12 to Detroit, and since 2008, the Rays are 218-120, which is the best home record in that span, topping New York at 216-121. Ask Wilcox Oaks pro- fessional Bill De Wildt and he'll tell you the annual tournament wouldn't be as successful as it is without a great group of volunteers and sponsors who have formed strong ties with the community. Tires Red Bluff Pro-Am tees off Saturday with a 3- person horserace, before entering the official rounds Sunday and Monday. While repeating the good times of the previous 20 years should be no prob- lem, repeating last year's finish will be a tough act. A year ago Joe Carlton chipped in from 70 yards out to make an eagle to win a 3-person playoff featuring Dan Judson and the defend- ing champion Dave Carr. It was almost a 4-person The 2012 Les Schwab playoff, but Redding area professional Isaac Sanchez missed a 15-foot birdie putt on his final hole and wound up a shot back. A 142 score for the 2- round tournament has been the magic number the past two years. The tournament record of 133 was recorded by Craig Howard in 1997. While it's unknown if the Monday drama will be there this time around, one thing known for sure is there will be a new champi- on crowned as Carlton recently took a job in Col- orado and will not be attending the tournament. That leaves the $5,000 Zazueta added a solo homer in the sixth inning. McColpin went 3-for-5 from the plate and Zazueta went 3-for-4, scoring three times and driving in three more runs. Morgan Weaver went 2- for-3 with a pair of runs dri- ven in.
