Saturday, May 5, 2012 – Daily News Police reports The following information is compiled from Red Bluff Police Department, Tehama County Sheriff's Department, Corning Police Department and California Highway Patrol. Arrests into Tehama County Jail as a fugitive from justice. He is being held without bail. • William James Surtees, 41, of Los Molinos was arrested Thurs- day at Electric Avenue at Highway 99E. Surtees, also known as William Michaels or Ryan Michaels, was charged on a warrant for transportation of a controlled substance. He is being held without bail. • Albert Harold Poole, 52, of Red Bluff was booked Thursday • Jose Guadalupe Moreno, 31, of Red Bluff was arrested Thurs- day in the 11600 block of Highway 99E. Moreno, also known as Lupe Moreno, was charged with possession of stolen property. He also had existing warrants for five counts of failure to appear, two counts of driving on a suspended license, and transportation of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $136,655. • Norman Eugene Beckley, 41, of Red Bluff was arrested Thurs- day in River Park. He was charged with public intoxication, but he was also booked on a felony warrant for petty theft with a prior offense. Bail was set at $500. • John Freedom Dishmon, 25, of Red Bluff was arrested Thurs- day at Sale Lane near the Farm Bureau. He was charged with car- rying a switchblade knife and violation of parole. Bail was set at $3,000. Deputies had responded to a suspicious person call at 2:30 a.m. Thursday near the Farm Bureau on Sale Lane. One person was detained 20 minutes later and held for questioning. Medical was requested initially for an unconscious person, but it was canceled minutes later when the person was conscious. Deputies took the person for medical clearance. It is not clear if the incidents are relat- ed. Wednesday evening on northbound Interstate 5 north of Jellys Ferry Road. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, and using a compart- ment to conceal a controlled substance. Bail was set at $465,000. • A man was arrested on two county warrants and one Red Bluff Armed robber shot to death by Vallejo jeweler VALLEJO (AP) — A Northern California jeweler has shot and killed a rob- bery suspect who vaulted over the counter and pulled out a gun. The San Francisco Chronicle reports the owner of Carillo's Jewelry Store in Vallejo was confronted by the armed man as he moved toward a back office at about noon Thursday. The store owner says he grabbed a handgun and shot the suspect, a 37-year- old Hercules man, in the office doorway. A K-9 was used and helped officers find drug paraphernalia that was confiscated at the scene. • Daniel A. Salazar, 21, was arrested Thursday on an arrest war- rant when he surrendered at the Shasta County Jail. He was found April 23 in a motel room in Redding with a 12-year-old girl who had been reported as a runaway from Shasta Lake City. Shasta County Sheriff's deputies determined that Salazar had an inappro- priate sexual relationship with the girl. Evidence collected led to a warrant issued by the Shasta County district attorney's office. Salazar was charged with committing lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, child stealing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Child Protec- tive Services were called and deputies were sent to talk to the boy's family. No further information was available. Animals • A rattlesnake was reported Thursday in the yard of a residence in the 300 block of Lincoln Street. The snake was found and killed. • A caller reported a cow Thursday which had three legs stuck in a cattle guard at Highway 36W at Vestal Road. However, the people involved all fled before officers arrived and no injuries were reported. • A 21-year-old man reported Thursday he'd been sprayed with pepper spray by someone he'd never seen before for no reason. He declined to press charges and was medically treated at the scene. • Staff at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital reported Thursday treating a 15-year-old boy who was injured in an altercation at Los Molinos High School. The boy left before deputies arrived. The hospital staff told deputies that the school was aware of the incident and was handling the matter. • A 17-year-old girl reported Thursday being challenged to fight Violence • A woman called Thursday to report her daughter, a 26-year-old by several males in the 24800 block of Fifth Avenue in Los Moli- nos. Deputies determined it was only a verbal disturbance and noth- ing further was pursued. Collision • A traffic collision report was taken Thursday afternoon in the area of South Main Street and Sister Mary Columbia Drive in which injury was reported. No further information was available. • A representative of Geico called deputies Thursday morning when a customer reported locking her 5-month-old child in a car at the Gott Country Store in Cottonwood. However, the doors were unlocked before deputies arrived. Everyone was fine. Odd Burglary • A television and other items were reported stolen Thursday from a house in the 5300 block of Rawson Road. Windows and doors were broken so the culprit(s) could get in. No further infor- mation was available. • Items were reported stolen Thursday from inside a residence in the 24800 block of Fifth Avenue in Los Molinos. • Tools and building supplies were reported stolen Thursday in a burglary in the 17400 block of Hooker Creek Road in Cottonwood. • Items were reported stolen Thursday from a rental property in the 19600 block of Freshwater Drive in Cottonwood. The items, an orange 50-foot extension cord, valued at $20, a Craftsmen hedge trimmer, valued at $80, a three-pound ax, valued at $40, and four small Coleman propane tanks, valued at $20, were taken from the back porch of a residence. Theft forged a check from her account for $200 at Umpqua Bank in Los Molinos.
