Jan Law TheTford '77 InvesTs In The fuTure of deLTa PsI A s recruitment advisor to the Delta Psi Chapter, Jan Law Thetford '77 knows the quality of women at Delta Psi. Just as when she was an undergraduate, Kappa consists of diverse, well-rounded women who drive Kappa's efforts to be the top chapter. "We have the most amazing young women!" Jan shares. "Since I have the privilege of being involved on a regular basis, I know how strong our membership continues to be. I also have a firsthand view of how important it is that we maintain our housing facility—it is an outward sign of who we are as a group." Jan feels strongly that the membership needs a lodge that reflects the hard work and dedication of its members. She has committed to contributing to the capital campaign since alumnae support is crucial for the success of the undergraduates. "We need to provide a gathering place that will make our members feel supported, encouraged, and as successful as the other groups on campus." While Delta Psi is already a successful chapter, Jan takes great pride in its goals to grow in scholarship, philanthropic activities, and campus involvement. "We are active members for only three to four years, but we are Kappa alumnae for the rest of our lives. It is our duty to help Delta Psi keep up with other chapters and positively represent Kappa as a national entity," Jan shares. She hopes that in its quest to be the top chapter, Kappa members can gain the leadership experiences and build the friendships that she has had the honor of forming as a result of her experience. "Delta Psi alumnae are diverse, but we have Kappa to draw us together so we may contribute to a renewed and strengthened future." Outside of her dedication to Kappa, Jan works as a National Sales Director with Mary Kay cosmetics. She loves the freedom that this position provided her with, allowing her to stay involved with Delta Psi throughout her alumna life. Jan shares the Kappa sisterhood with her daughter, Rachael Thetford Butts '03, who serves as a chapter advisor with the Epsilon Beta Chapter. Jan's son, Tanner, is an alumnus of Phi Delta Theta at Texas Tech and is father to Jan's first grandbaby, Myles. When Jan and her husband, David, aren't spending time with Myles, they love attending Texas Tech sporting events. You can connect with Jan at janthetford@suddenlink.net.
