Clothes for men, women and children are all excepted at the drive and they will be both col- lected and distributed during the event. So far Cook, 12, has collected seven bags of blankets and clothing items. Simmons said Cook wanted to do something for the home- less, and about six weeks ago she thought of hosting the blanket drive. By Julie Zeeb jzeeb@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Zeeb on Twitter RED BLUFF At least a dozen peo- ple spoke up at Tuesday's Tehama County Board of Supervisors meeting expressing their displea- sure at how the selection process of chairman and vice chairman was handled at the Jan. 5 meet- ing. Supervisor Bob Williams was selected as chairman and Super- visor Steve Chamblin followed with a nomination of Supervisor Dennis Garton as vice chairman, to which District 2 Supervisor Candy Carlson objected. "Excuse me, but I'm next in line so how does that work," Carlson said at the Jan. 5 meeting. County Counsel Arthur Wylene said the determination of chair- man and vice chairman is at the board's discretion. "I know there have been cer- tain customs in the past," Wylene said. "Those are not invariable. It's up to the board to select who- ever it is they wish to." The first man up at Tuesday's meeting said District 2 had been skipped over and that it was im- perative that all districts were represented on the board equally, requesting the matter be rectified even if a special meeting was nec- essary within 30 days. Regular attendees and Red Bluff residents Tom Moller and June Cooper both said they were disgusted with how things had happened, with Cooper saying both District 2 and Carlson had been slapped in the face and she wanted Candy in the vice chair- woman position. "I'm here to comment on the rude and crude action the board took in voting in number one and number two, bypassing some- one in my district," Moller said. "I don't think it's right and the good ol' boys attitude isn't going to work. There is going to be re- percussions from this somehow." Moller said he recognized that the four men on the board had about 150 years worth of public service to the county and said, TEHAMA COUNTY SUPERVISORS Leadershipselectionsquestioned Community.....A3 Business .........A4 Lifestyles........A5 Opinion............A6 Sports..............
