What a year this has been, and how much we are looking forward to 2016 be- ing even more fruitful. First of all, some notes on recent events: The first ever annual Chamber Christmas Break- fast was a huge success. More than 70 of us attended the breakfast, hosted by Red Bluff Dodge and catered by the Palomino Room. Good food, lots of networking, $500 Walmart gift card given by Red Bluff Dodge, lots of fun and a great time. Due to your generosity, we were able to help a sin- gle mom with three chil- dren get almost $1,000 worth of furniture for their home — beds, lamps, vac- uum cleaner, sofas for the living room, dressers, the works. The kids received Christmas gifts as well and we rounded up a 25-pound turkey for them to top ev- erything off. What's up for 2016? I'm glad you asked. Good Morning Red Bluff will pick up steam once again as we meet Thursday, Jan. 28 during the Red Bluff Bull & Gelding Sale out at the fairgrounds. BEAM, our annual Busi- ness Expo, will be Feb. 11. This has always been a fruitful event for the exhib- itors. Contact our office for more info on how to take advantage of this opportu- nity to grow your business. Last, and certainly not least, the business of the chamber is business. We've got several ideas for future programs to help you grow your business, but we'd love to hear any suggestions you might have on how we can partner with you to have a great year in 2016. Let us know how we can help. Thanks for your member- ship and support in 2015 in so many areas. CORNING CHAMBER AnnualdinnersetforFebruary SACRAMENTO Small, non- farm businesses in 33 Cali- fornia counties are now eli- gible to apply for low-inter- est federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Busi- ness Administration (SBA). These loans offset eco- nomic losses because of re- duced revenues caused by the drought in the follow- ing primary counties that began Jan. 2, announced Director Tanya Garfield of SBA's Disaster Field Oper- ations Center — West. Primary California counties: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Marin, San Benito, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Sonoma, Trin- ity, Tulare and Ventura. Neighboring California counties: Alameda, Hum- boldt, Inyo, Lake, Los An- geles, Mariposa, Men- docino, Merced, Mono, Monterey, Napa, San Ber- nardino, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, San Ma- teo, Santa Cruz, Shasta, Siskiyou, Stanislaus, Te- hama and Tuolumne. "SBA eligibility covers both the economic im- pacts on businesses de- pendent on farmers and ranchers that have suf- fered agricultural produc- tion losses caused by the disaster and businesses di- rectly impacted by the di- saster," Garfield said. Small, nonfarm busi- nesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small busi- nesses engaged in aqua- culture and most private nonprofit organizations of any size may qualify for Economic Injury Disas- ter Loans (EIDLs) of up to $2 million to help meet fi- nancial obligations and operating expenses which could have been met had the disaster not occurred. "Eligibility for these loans is based on the fi- nancial impact of the di- saster only and not on any actual property damage. These loans have an in- terest rate of 4 percent for businesses and 2.625 per- cent for private nonprofit organizations, a maximum term of 30 years, and are available to small busi- nesses and most private nonprofits without the fi- nancial ability to offset the adverse impact without hardship," Garfield said. By law, SBA makes EI- DLs available when the U.S. Secretary of Agricul- ture designates an agri- cultural disaster. Secre- tary Tom Vilsack declared this disaster on December 23, 2015. Businesses primarily en- gaged in farming or ranch- ing are not eligible for SBA disaster assistance. Agri- cultural enterprises should contact the Farm Services Agency about the U.S. De- partment of Agriculture assistance made available by the Secretary's declara- tion. However, nurseries are eligible for SBA disas- ter assistance in drought disasters. Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA's secure website at https://disasterloan.sba. gov/ela. Disaster loan infor- mation and application forms are also available from SBA's Customer Ser- vice Center by calling (800) 659-2955 or emailing di- sastercustomerservice@ sba.gov. Individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hear- ing may call (800) 877- 8339. For more disaster assistance information, or to download applications, visit http://www.sba.gov/ disaster. Completed appli- cations should be mailed to: U.S. Small Business Ad- ministration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.
