Tomorrow reflects the fruit of that col- lision. We are wit- nesses of these things, as Jesus' says in Luke 24. Today is a good time to decide whether we are committed to merely observing that fruit or observ- ing as participants – the meaning of martyr, or witness, in the Greek of New Testament. The Lord has released three words in the past fifteen months to express His attitude toward this season of collision. The first is this: "I have prepared a great harvest for you, and you have gathered it into barns, and there it remains. I will tear down the barns and release the harvest." When Jesus ascended into heaven He instructed His disciples to return to Jerusalem and wait for the promised power of Holy Spirit to permeate them. Then they were to carry the message of abundant life in Christ to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the whole world. At this time there is to be no waiting. Yesterday was Good Fri- Tomorrow is Easter. Church received power to go into all the world two thousand years ago – when the Spirit fell on Pentecost. Jesus calls His people to pray the Lord of the harvest The to send workers into the fields (Luke 10:2) which are already ripe for harvest. He says when His people learn to catch fish solely by fol- lowing His instructions (Luke 5:1-11) it is solely for the larger purpose of catching peo- ple for His Kingdom. James Wilson GodTalk he said, "I have been sitting on the fence long enough; it is time to go." King Jesus is calling for a new Great Awakening when He shapes this season around the Luke 1:17 depiction of a John the Bapstist generation going forth in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children to prepare a people for right- eousness. The time of wait- ing is past. To wait for the leaders of the churches to be comfortable with the changes awakening brings is to disobey the Lord. It is time to go – and to go with whomever will come. The second word is this: "I am coming soon, as I understand soon. You must expect me tomorrow, as you understand tomorrow." His return is imminent – what- ever that means in terms of a timeframe. We are to pre- spoke in a San Diego House of Prayer a few weeks ago a young Navy man came up after and asked me to pray with him to receive Jesus. When I asked him why When I Saturday, April 7, 2012 – Daily News 7A He is risen; now it's our turn pare ourselves as though His imminence were syn- onymous with our immedi- acy. The means we take each part of the Great Com- mission as though it were the breath in our lungs. We take our doubts with us to the Cross (Matthew 28:16- 17) and worship Him, depending on Him to give us the stamina to keep at it until He comes. We baptize and teach one another all that we know of Him (Matthew 28:18-19) bear- ing in mind that the authors of the Bible understood that teaching un-applied is teaching unlearned. And we take our stand on His promise (Matthew 28:20) that He will never ever leave us alone. When I was asked to pray for a paralytic a few years ago I knew that I knew that he would not get well. I prayed anyway, in the authority I did not feel, and when nothing happened I thought to myself, "I told you so." When that para- lyzed man got up and walked out of the hospital ten minutes later I clearly heard my Lord laughing as He said, "I don't care what you know. I care only for what you will do in my Name." Reality is that we are in the last act of history – however long it may play – and His love and justice will once more collide in the momentous event of His return in glory. The third word is this: "I do not want people on my side; I want people by side." Many Christians seek to do what they think Jesus would do if he were here. We take this tack in politics, econom- ics, social interactions and as we plan our daily lives. But we forget He is here. He says to remain in Him and He will remain in us in John 15:4; he says if we hang out with Him we will know the truth and the truth will free us in John 8:32. He means us to take His words literal- ly. The time is now and the turn is ours.
