The Lyre Letter 2 T he Rho Tau Rho Manhattan area alumnae chapter was established earlier this year and is very successful. Membership has grown to 25 alumnae and the group has hosted monthly events including luncheons, a potluck dinner, and Founder's Day celebrations. In addition, the chapter has assisted the Gamma Zeta Chapter with recruitment, initiation, and a philanthropic event. On October 10, Rho Tau Rho hosted an alumnae tailgate before the TCU vs. KSU football game for all Alpha Chi Omega alumnae. We were joined by alumnae from near and far, and the "Ladies of the '80s" had an especially large turnout at the event! If you know of any Manhattan area alumnae who would be interested in joining Rho Tau Rho alumnae chapter, please contact any of our officers: President: Rebecca Robinson '05, rspexarth@gmail.com Treasurer: Deidre Knight '04, deidre.e.knight@gmail.com V.P. Gamma Zeta Maintains Strong Sisterhood, Grows As a Chapter Left: Kaitlin Martin '13 and Hannah Ediger '13 at the domestic violence awareness booth. Right: The fall 2015 new members at Bid Day. ACW ACW T he fall semester is in full swing here at Gamma Zeta! We have enjoyed multiple football games, Dad's Weekend, a chapter retreat, the heroes and villains date party, initiation, Homecoming, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Pizza Slice and Pumpkin Spice event with Kappa Delta, and much more. We're still looking forward to more football and basketball games, decorating the house for the holidays with our moms, officer transitions, and the Midnight in Manhattan semi-formal. 100 YEARS OF K-STATE HOMECOMING The Homecoming theme was A Century of Coming Home and we were given 1900-1909 as our decade. The first World Series was in 1903, so we took that on as our theme. We placed third in the parade competition. CHAPTER ACTIVITIES We had a blast at our chapter retreat in September! We went to YMCA Camp Wood for a weekend and spent time bonding over a campfire, the sunrise, and team-building games. October was Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we had a booth at the K-State Student Union, luminaries at the K-State Gardens, and hosted Pizza Slice and Pumpkin Spice with Kappa Delta at our chapter house. OFFICER TRANSITIONS In mid-October, we slated our newest executive board! We're in the process of educating the new officers and will complete turnover before the end of the semester. We're excited for the new leaders of our chapter! Haley McMurphy '13, Elle McAlister '14, and Lizzie Young '14 have the privilege of heading to Leadership Academy in January to learn more about their positions. Mom June and Haley are also eager to attend Convention in June in Orlando. Fall is a busy time here at K-State and Gamma Zeta, but we're excited about all that is happening! We love showing alumnae changes within the house and hearing all of your memories, so stop by and visit anytime. Loyally, Courtney Henney '12 2014-15 Chapter President kstate.axo.president@gmail.com
