TAU TALK ALPHA TAU OMEGA AT IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY FALL 2015 Preserving Our Past, Foundation for the Future Campaign to End December 31 T he campaign for Gamma Upsilon is drawing to a close. We have raised nearly $1 million toward our fundraising goal. Due to the support of numerous alumni, parents, and friends, some major renovations on the second and third floors have been completed and the result is spectacular. No doubt that our renovations have made a huge impact on our brotherhood. They are a focused and proud group of young men. Read about their year on page 3. As we look back over the past four years of this capital campaign, we have been not only impressed but inspired by the tireless work of our house corporation and campaign board, including longtime chairman Doug Kirk '75. Coupled with that was the dedication and financial support of our alumni and undergraduates to secure a sound and safe fraternity house for members to live in during their college years. Truly, without the loyal support of our members who contributed dollars early on, the renovations we've done to date wouldn't be possible. So, to the 144 of our brothers who have already contributed or pledged to the capital campaign, we extend a hearty Rah Rah Regga! Your Support Still NeceSSarY to FiNiSh critical projectS Pledges are still needed to cover the entire project cost and to finish the updates. We still have a lot more to do as we've only been able to address issues on the second and third floor living spaces and study rooms. Over the summer, we were able to address a lot of life-safety issues: we replaced the fire doors, updated the lighting and electrical, replaced the 50 original windows, installed new room doors with new locks and hardware, and added air conditioning to the second and third floors. We also converted some rooms into suite-style living and installed new floor coverings in those rooms and hallways. However, in order to really compete with other fraternities, including our neighbors, we must address the living needs on the first floor and study and the study and leadership spaces in the lower level. But we cannot address these needs until we have enough pledges to cover the expenses. For those of you who have given generously, you have made our success to date possible. If you are able, please consider extending that pledge another year or making an additional contribution. For those of you who have not given, we appreciate any amount you feel you can give toward this important project. Every dollar counts to help us reach our fundraising goal of $1.25 million and to pay for our projects. BreakiNg NewS We have the ability to now qualify the remainder of the funding for our outstanding work as tax-deductible contributions through the Alpha Tau Omega Foundation! The ability to expand the amount of tax-deductible contributions can help you make your initial gift or add to your current position in a tax-advantaged manner. campaigN eNdiNg decemBer 31— laSt chaNce!
