Alpha Upsilon Thrives with New Members and Increased GPA DG Continues Down the Path to Success at SMU T his year has been monumental for the Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Delta Gamma. Last January, we welcomed 56 outstanding new members into our chapter. In the spring, we had a chapter total of 189. This fall, we have 145, and we look forward to recruiting a new membership class during formal recruitment in January. MANY HONORS THIS FALL We dedicated the new chapter house on August 29 and officially moved into our new home on September 12. We also had the opportunity to host a new major campus event: Red, White, and SMU on September 11. We paired with Alpha Kappa Alpha, an NPHC sorority on campus, to cohost a cookout for SMU students. President Turner joined us in honoring SMU veterans during this event. DG MAINTAINS GREEK TIES This year for Homecoming, we paired with Beta Theta Pi. We will pair with Lambda Chi Alpha for Parent's Weekend later this semester. Our intramurals teams are thriving; our indoor soccer team even won the championship! ACADEMICS ON THE RISE Alpha Upsilon has excelled academically this year. In the spring, we raised our chapter GPA to a 3.446! We are currently ranked third out of eight NPC sororities at SMU and are very proud of our members for their outstanding academic achievements. SERVICE REMAINS TOP PRIORITY We have been very busy preparing for Anchor Splash, our biggest philanthropy event of the year. We also had the pleasure of hosting our annual Lectureship in Values and Ethics with Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. Jerry was a huge hit among the campus community, and we loved his message on creating a thriving business in an ethical way. We love our new home at 3120 Daniel and want to thank our alumnae for their continuous support of our chapter! We wouldn't be where we are without you!
