Learn all you can from those who know the ropes. Here's a quick sampling. E X T R E M E C O U P O N I N G . Make sure you ask for a rain check if a store is out of a sale item. Stores in our area are doing a lot of "buy one, get one free" deals. Often they run out of the items. I hold on to rain checks and then stack them with two coupons. Some- times I even can get the sale items for free. I normal- ly only purchase the things I know we like and will eat. However, when an item is free, it is a good time to try some- thing new or donate it to the food pantry. -- Pam, e-mail S AV I N G S SITE. I found a terrific coupon site called CouponMom.com. It lists local store ads all over the country and matches manu- facturer coupons to the ads. Click on your local store and up pops the weekly ad. It shows what unexpired coupons are available and which week's coupon sup- plement they are from. Reg- istration is free. It's a great site to visit if you buy your local paper each week to get the coupons. -- Renae S., e- mail SMART SHOPPING. I use an iPhone application called Grocery Gadget. It's free with an option to pay for an upgraded version. Grocery Gadget allows you to log on via your phone or the Web, to create a grocery list, to enter the prices of what you usually buy and even to take pictures of brands you prefer. My hus- band and I both have iPhones. We can add things to our house- hold list from each of our phones, and when I go to the store, I have the com- plete list of what we need. It also helps keep us on a budget. -- Ally B., e- mail ONE-STOP SAVER. Another incredi- ble Web site is R e f u n d C e n t s , where you can get all the infor- mation you need before you shop. For instance, on one page, you can see that Wal- greens has some- thing on sale, an in-store coupon, a Register Reward for the purchase and a coupon in the Sunday paper. The site even shows you what the final price will be! It also pro- vides rebate forms and ways to donate your coupons if you don't need them. It is thorough, and once you get the hang of the site, it's addictive. -- Tia G., e-mail CODE CLIPPER. I always do a Google search for "coupon codes" when I find something online that I want to purchase. Without fail, I have found a coupon each and every time. Recently, J.C. Penney had a coupon code for free ship- ping. It amounted to $12.99 for a pair of winter boots, which is a huge savings! Remember to check for coupon codes before you fill out the online order form. -- Karen C., Idaho Mary Hunt Everyday Cheapskate Obituaries 12600 Hwy 99E, Red Bluff Located 5 Miles from I-5 • 530-527-6483 Hrs: 9am-6pm Monday-Saturday Expires 1-19-10 Whole or 1/2 Hogs cut & wrapped plus smoking Choice Angus BONELESS RIBEYE STEAKS $ 7 99 lb. Charlie was born De- cember 7, 1927 in Coshocton, Ohio to Elmer L. and Rosa B. Funk. Charlie grew up learning how to hunt and fish from his father Elmer. He loved the outdoors. In High School he played varsity football all four years. In his senior year 1946, the team won the Ohio State Central League State Championship. Charlie worked as a painter after High School and then a sheet metal worker. He was married in 1947 to Helen Odessa Fisher. In 1957 they moved with their three boys to New Mexico. He worked as a sheet met- al worker at the White Sands Nuclear Silos and then on to Goleta, CA where he worked at the Vandenberg Air Force Base Silos until completed in 1959. He heard of work in the Red Bluff, Redding area and moved the family to Red Bluff. He went to work for B.W. Smith heating and plumbing. In 1963 he started his own business Funk Sheet Metal. In 1972 he married Patricia Jean (Penne) Dumas. He passed his business onto his son's Bob and Tim in 1980, which is still in operation today by son Bob and grandson Casey. Charlie and Patty then moved to Medford, Oregon where he worked as a consultant for a Heating and Air Conditioning company. He retired in 1985 and they moved back to Red Bluff where he played golf and they started traveling which they both enjoyed. Charlie was a long time member of Wil- cox Oaks Golf Course, where he was known as a sandbag- ger and named "Cackles" as he loved to rub it in when things went his way. He was a long time member of the Red Bluff Elk's Lodge. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. His real passion was passing on his knowledge of the outdoors to his son's. They all enjoyed fishing for salmon on the Sacramento River and hunting in the local area. Later in life he and his son's and grandson's took several hunting trips for mule deer and Elk into Ore- gon. One of his greatest stories is catching a 22 pound steelhead trout in 1980 on the Chetco River near Brook- ings, Oregon which held up for the Oregon State Record for that year. Charlie was a hard passionate man with a big heart, if you needed help or had a question he would al- ways be there to do anything he possibly could, but would not do it for you with out you being there to help. He helped his son's and step daughter and grandsons with home building projects. You could ask him questions about life and different problems and he would always have an an- swer, even if you did not agree. He loved to argue his point. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Patricia, 3 sons Bob, Mike and daughter in-law Susan and son Tim all of the Red Bluff area. One "adopted" son, Jim and Laurie Lesher of Grants Pass, Oregon. Two step daughters Christine and son-in-law Mike Growney of Red Bluff and Becky Lindsay of Redding.
