At the beginning of the school year, the S.E.R.R.F. after school program and the Tehama Coun- ty Department of Education adopted the "You Matter" movement. The "You Matter" movement is about letting every- one know that "They Matter" and that ordinary people can do extraordinary things. They believe it is the plain, simple, ordinary individual who can change the world. People have power. People matter. Part of the "You Matter" movement was a Civic Community Leadership Day to honor community lead- ers. Students handmade bead bracelets and thank you cards for the honorees. Jaqueline Beaustimonte and Sara Schneider were honored for the many hours they volunteer at Rancho Tehama Elementary School. Charolette Evans was honored for her work with the local Girl Scout troop. Beverly Gano, Elaine Garrison and Erika Frenzel were credited for the endless hours over the years keeping Fun 4 Kids alive. Janice Menzies coaches the Jr. Giants and volunteers her time at the Rancho Tehama Thrift store, where Sherry Burns also devotes her time, when she is not volunteering at Rancho Tehama Fire Station 13. Students presented their gifts to all the volunteers, with a big thank you for all the countless hours they volunteer, making their community safer and stronger for them.
