Sigma Chi 3 A s I reach the halfway point of my tenure as Consul, I can honestly say it has been the most exciting and rewarding time of my life. We have stayed busy here at 2701 Nueces Street continuing to make strides in all areas of the Chapter, including philanthropy, scholarship, and recruitment. This fall, we are excited to further the progress we have made this past spring. Raising the Bar in Academics and Philanthropy Academically, we finished the spring semester with the seventh-highest Chapter GPA among 27 chapters. With a Chapter GPA of 3.263, we remain in a tight race for the top spot and a full 0.1 above the all-men's GPA. We also had a successful spring in philanthropy, raising more than $35,000 for various beneficiaries such as the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the B+ Foundation through Derby Days. Our partnership with Wooldridge Elementary School continued and we hosted a field day at our Chapter House this spring, bringing over 100 students in their Boys and Girls Club to the house for a day full of fun. Recruiting New Alpha Nus The beginning of the school year marks the end of recruitment. Thanks to the tireless work of Spencer Jarzombek '17 and his recruitment team, we are excited to pledge 47 of the best men at The University of Texas, including brothers who hail from California to Virginia. Staying Active on Campus On campus, Alpha Nu continues to stay active as members are constantly taking on different leadership roles. Conner Patrick '17 was recently named external financial director of student government and serves as executive vice president of the Interfraternity Council. Spencer Young '16 serves as the vice president of judicial affairs for the Interfraternity Council. Spencer Jarzombek '17 and Otto Martinek '17 got the nod for Texas Cowboys and Silver Spurs, respectively. These are only a few examples of the active engagement of our members in the UT community. Come Join Us! Alumni and parents, we hope that you stop by 2701 Nueces St. anytime you can. There is always an open invitation to the house. We hope all of our alumni can make it to Fight Night on November 6. We are more than excited to tackle another busy fall semester, focused and determined to improve upon our past successes and to continue making the Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi the premier Fraternity at The University of Texas.
