Alumnae Launch Seniors at Hall of Commitment on May 3 F orty-seven of the chapter's 54 graduating seniors participated in the annual Hall of Commitment ceremony on May 3 at Old Hawthorne Country Club in Columbia. The ceremony marks the official transition of collegians to alumnae status. Two Alpha Chis from the Delta Chi chapter at William Woods University in nearby Fulton, Mo., also participated since they had to miss their own chapter's ceremony. About 10 alumnae from the mid-Missouri area attended the ceremony and brunch following. Congratulations to our newest Alpha Nu alumnae! 5 Alpha Chi Omega Sarah Ranft Doody* Des Plaines, Ill. This is the main fundraiser that True North puts on each spring. Since 2010, it has been a great success in raising money for those who seek shelter and support at True North. It is the perfect girl's-night-in with snacks, appetizers and drinks, followed by prizes, a raffle and dancing. The highlight of the night, however, is the fashion show. Alpha Nu members stepped forward to assist with the fashion show, which includes a wide variety of items and styles. Alpha Chis were also able to lend a hand in prepping the appetizers, ensuring that guests entered drawings for door prizes and helping with event set-up and tear-down. Thank you to Ally Layton '13, Rachel Beren '14, Sarah Lieck '13, Suzanne Sterns '14, and Kat Cua '14 for giving back to True North by assisting with the event last spring. Next year, the Little Black Dress event will be on April 1. Ticket sales begin in February, so Columbia area alumnae, please check out www.littleblackdresscolumbia.com for an opportunity to attend a great event and support those affected by domestic violence. All proceeds benefit True North and purchase the necessities for women and children seeking shelter, counseling, legal assistance, and halfway housing. Rachel Beren '14 and Ally Layton '13 give back at the Little Black Dress event.
