6 Lyre Notes CHAPTER ETERNAL Vinita Voigt Kirk '36 entered Chapter Eternal on April 24 at 100 years of age. She is survived by her two daughters, Julie and Joanie, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Janet McBeath Longenecker '41 entered Chapter Eternal in Pauma Valley, Calif., on April 6. She was a homemaker extraordinaire. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997. She is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Mary Frow Harris '44 of Lamar, Mo., entered Chapter Eternal on May 28. Mary often told stories of the great times she and her dear friends had at MU. Joyce Edwards Walker '53 entered Chapter Eternal on May 11, 2013. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Peggy Phillips Jennings '56 of Columbia, Mo., entered Chapter Eternal on January 3, 1983. Sherry Conohan '61 entered Chapter Eternal on July 4 at Hilton Head Island, S.C. She had a successful career in journalism, where she specialized in political and crime investigation reporting. She was president of the University of Missouri Alumni Association of New Jersey. Sherry is survived by her stepchildren, Randall, Geoffrey, Brad, and Kirsten, and nine grandchildren, whom she loved very much. Caroline Talaban '85 entered Chapter Eternal on March 2, 2014, after a battle with lung cancer. She worked as a financial and business analyst and was a member of the First United Methodist Church Coppell. She was a supportive mother to her three sons, Harper, Kellen, and Ty, and a loving wife to her husband, John. ALUMNAE NEWS Mary "Peggy" Hickey Ratz '40 is 93 years old and living in Springfield, Ill. Nancy Greef Cramer '50 has volunteered the past four years at the National World War I Museum and memorial. Nancy has published four books on WWI and is currently writing a book about the Serbian Army retreat in 1915, a historic but little-known event in America. Nancy is active in several civic and church groups. She resides in Paymore, Mo., and writes, "My years at ACW were happy and rewarding." E-mail: nancycramer31@gmail.com Anna Wilkerson '50 moved to Tulsa to marry Carl Teenor after retirement. Carl and Ann were blessed with good health and are able to travel extensively. While Ann lived in Tulsa, she represented Alpha Chi Omega in Tulsa Panhellenic. Carl unfortunately passed away in 2004 and Ann returned to Liberty, Mo., where she presently resides. Helen McGuire Jones '51 wants to congratulate the Alpha Nu Chapter on the house updates. Change always brings new life with new members to experience the wonders of Alpha Chi Omega. After 62 years as an ACW, she still thinks fondly of her years at Alpha Nu. Helen resides in Parsons, Kan. Marty is now living in a senior housing place in Godfrey, Ill., and is enjoying the people and activities. E-mail: martypf@charter.net Mary Logan McClintock '54 and her husband, Reed, retired early and went sailing—seven years in the Caribbean. The couple now lives in Sebring, Fla. Joyce Diehr Schneider '54 sold her home of 40 years in 2013 and now lives in a villa. Joyce has seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She is active as a lector, eucharistic minister, and casserole maker for St. Patrick Center in St. Louis. Arline Powell Crouse '56 is retired and enjoying life but is limited in activities due to age and health problems. Her oldest grandson is currently attending Columbia University in New York City. Arline writes, "I look back many years ago to my time at Mizzou as an Alpha Chi with fondness." Arline resides in Jefferson City, Mo. Mary Veale Petersen '61 lives in Columbia and does a lot of quilting. Mary and her husband, Harvey, are the proud grandparents to three grandchildren. E-mail: hmpetersen1@aol.com Sharon Schoenwalder Steinmann '61 and her Swiss husband, Adrian, spend almost every summer in Switzerland. Adrian has more family there than Sharon has in America. The couple is quite active; biking, hiking, skiing, and backpacking. They also enjoy attending concerts of all sorts and traveling. They often entertain and love to cook. Sharon and Adrian have two grandsons, with whom they have done two- week "camps" for the last seven years. Sharon and Adrian also participated in their first senior Olympics this year. "Not too hard to win medals when everyone is over 70." Sharon notes that she doesn't get to visit Mizzou very often but says hello to all her sisters. Nancy and Ed assist first graders with reading, counting and math skills several hours a week. E-mail: edna1962@sbcglobal.net Carolin Wilson '62 is happily retired from her career in editing and publishing, which led her to Chicago, London, England, Montreal, Quebec, and Southern Ontario. Carolin and her husband, Tom, enjoy visiting friends in England, in-laws in Scotland, and a son living in Germany. "Hello to all sisters of the sixties!" Carolin and Tom reside in St. Catharine, Ontario. Joan and her husband, Ken, have three perfect grandchildren. Joan recently went on a cruise organized by Jean Keith '68 and had a great time. Joan also shares that she is now the worst golfer at Old Hawthorne. "Somebody's gotta do it!" she jokes. Their daughter, Angie, began her college years at the University of Missouri and is a student- athlete with the gymnastics team.
