"You've got mail" took on a whole new meaning for me this summer as so many of you generously responded to the annual campaign with your gifts to help complete the Chapter Room. Because of your continued response and the careful management of funds on the part of the Chapter and House Corporation, we were able to not only purchase new chairs for the Chapter Room (Yay! All can sit now!), but we have painted the Standards Room and finally are purchasing new furniture, which will greatly increase the respectfulness and business atmosphere in that area. In addition, we added fabric panel boards (what we used to called bulletin boards) in the Scholastic Center and plan to re-cover furniture for that room. During recruitment, that room is ground zero for all the important work that goes on to ensure a successful recruitment. And the rest of the year, that room is the hub for all members to meet their academic goals! Thank You, Alumnae We also received a wonderful and creative donation this summer from two special Delta Mu alumnae. Jessie Whelan Drennen '80 and Sue Whelan Martin '80 donated two fabulous paintings for the upstairs lounges. These two talented sisters paint together and their work is modern, fun, and beautiful. Thank you for your generosity. These paintings join those of other talented DDD artists Dale Wilson Kennington '55, Pier Peterson Hardin '72, and Buffy Drennen Hargett '75 that personalize and greatly enhance the DDD house. So many talented Deltas have helped make our house not only beautiful, but personal! Your Recommendations Are Important Speaking of recruitment, our members and their advisors welcomed a fantastic group of 130 new members to the Chapter! For the old-timers like me, and even for sisters of more recent years, to even imagine the logistics of recruitment nowadays is mind-boggling. More than 2,400 women participated in Panhellenic recruitment this year. These girls come from all over the U.S.; in fact, 70% of the young women now come from out of state. That means that the recommendations we send are more important than ever as the Chapter uses them to identify the most outstanding Potential New Members not only from the cities and towns of Alabama and neighboring states, but also truly Delta Delta Delta • University of Alabama Fall 2015 The Crescent HOUSE CORPORATION ENCOURAGES CONTINUED ALUMNAE SUPPORT (Continued on page 6) Thank you, Jessie Whelan Drennen '80 and Sue Whelan Martin '80, for your lovely new additions to Delta Mu's home. There are still naming opportunities available for Sisterhood Suites. This is a fabulous way to honor an alumna or Tri Delta, and can be done individually or as a class. A re you tired of polishing your silver? Tri Delta is in need of additional silver serving pieces, especially large trays. If you have a piece you would like to donate, contact Amanda Still Humber '70 at ashumber@gmail.com. We truly appreciate your generosity! Silver Linings
