Aren't you who you are today at least in part because of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity? Your career? Your spouse? Your memories? I believe in Lambda Chi Alpha, its traditions and ideals. That's why I'm writing you today. I'm asking you to honor your past and extend a helping hand to the future generations of Lambda Chi brothers. We engaged in Honoring Our Past, Securing Our Future: The Campaign for Alpha-Delta Zeta more than three years ago. As we continue with our plans for financing and construction, we are facing a very real need to increase our dollars raised so we can safely begin work, but the fact of the matter is that we need the help of each and every alumnus for this to happen. In a recent board e-mail vote, the ADZ House Corporation Board of Directors all agreed, 17-0, that ALL living brothers of ADZ should make a donation within their ability to do so.* All brothers should make a contribution to this project because it is vital to the success of our Chapter. But to date, only 18% of our living alumni have stepped up to the plate. There are many ADZ alumni who have the wealth to make a donation, but for one reason or another, have held off in the last three years of the campaign for rebuilding our beloved Chapter House. The Chapter cannot continue to offer a 60-year-old, worn-out Chapter House to today's college men and their parents and expect the Chapter to excel in the face of new fraternity houses and dormitories. Student housing of today features things like exercise facilities, hot tubs, club rooms, parking; not to mention the most obvious advantages: private sleeping rooms and bathrooms. We know that we offer a brotherhood experience that young college men will not be able to find anywhere else. But to attract future generations to join the ADZ legacy we must be able to compete, at least to some degree, to the new housing standard. One of your brothers that graduated in the '60s has said many times, "I owe everything that I have to the University; my financial status, my spouse, my family, the thrill that I have had in the industry that I chose, and the many lasting friendships that I still cherish. Further, I may not have been able to make it through the challenging schedule without the support of my Brothers and the motivation and friendship that they shared with me." Did ADZ affect your life this way as well? If so, won't you make a generous donation today? Right now you have the chance to double the impact of your commitment with a contribution toward the $450,000 matching gift challenge. A group of generous brothers will match every new dollar received toward the $450,000 threshold, providing a total of $900,000 in additional funding. Every gift is important to the cause. Think about the impact that ΛXA had on your life and support this project today. In ZAX, Len Kirberg '66 Campaign Chairman lkirberg@accessus.net *Those alumni brothers unable to make a donation because of a grievous medical disability, inability to work, destitute, or a serious mental or physical condition will not be expected to donate. G reat summer recruitment events attracted John "Curt" Killinger '73 to Alpha-Delta, and the friendships and family environment of ΛXA immediately became a treasured part of his life. Curt was a proud Alpha-Delta because they led the Greek community and were unsurpassed in brotherhood. "It was, and is, a true extended family." From day one, Curt was surrounded by great leaders who had an impact on him. "John Warner '70 was High Alpha in my first year and provided admirable leadership then, and in my career. Gary Leidwanger '72, my big brother and High Alpha, was a great example and true brother, as were my brothers who served on the High Zeta with me." Curt also met Lambda Chi mentors later in his industry and on the University Alumni Board, and credits a couple of job opportunities directly to ΛΧA relationships. Curt has generously supported Honoring Our past, Ensuring Our Future: The Campaign for Alpha-Delta. "I believe in supporting worthy causes and ΛXA has a great tradition for developing people in many ways. Earlier brothers provided me a great house and Chapter and I want to ensure that for future brothers."
